How To Style A Long Cardigan

Hi there, friend! I’m so happy you stopped by to talk cardigans today! I love wearing cardigans in the fall, winter, and spring. I even love a beach cardigan in the summer. Whether they’re short, cropped, long, or just a normal length, cardigans in general are a wardrobe staple that you can wear all year round. They’re certain to elevate your outfit while keeping you warm and cozy during the colder seasons!

So, there are plenty of long cardigan outfits! I love how they come in different styles and materials, so there’s one to go with pretty much any look. An easy outfit formula for a long cardigan is to pair it with jeans or work pants, a fitted top like a layering top or work appropriate t-shirt, and your shoes of choice.

Okay, here’s a round up of some outfit ideas for long cardigans!

Long Cashmere Cardigan And Relaxed Jeans

I love a blue and white striped tee with a neutral cardigan like I’m wearing above. I wore this look for a morning coffee run and breakfast, but it’s a good option to wear to work on a casual day as well.

Long Cardigan With Jeans

You can see one way to wear a long cardigan with jeans above, but I also love the look of a (really) long cardigan with skinny jeans. I think a tailored cut jean, so skinny jeans or straight leg jeans, always looks nice with the length of a longer cardigan. I find that if you tuck in your layering top, it will make you look a little taller!

Long Cashmere Cardigan For Anything

Look at this gorgeous green set! I absolutely love this color for winter and spring. The cashmere beanie looks super soft. Okay, first things first. This long cashmere cardigan will go with literally anything. I love the loungewear look here, but this cardigan will go with jeans or a work outfit too. The color is the perfect neutral chameleon. I’ve always worn my cashmere sweaters everywhere, whether to an office, at home, or out on the weekend. What’s the point in investing in one if you aren’t going to wear it all the time, right!

Faux Leather Pants and Cashmere Cardigan

These faux leather pants are so cute – one of my girlfriends wore them recently and I loved them! They’re super flattering. They’re a good option to wear for a casual get together. I’d pair them with this long cardigan and flats, or you could dress them up with heeled booties. The cardigan I linked is super delicate looking, which is a nice balance to leather pants.

Long Cardigan Comfortable For Pregnancy

As you can see from this photo, an oversized, long cardigan is great if you’re pregnant in the fall and winter like I was. This is the same cardigan as the first photo. I was always so comfortable in this cardigan, and I could even button it up over my bump. If you aren’t pregnant, you may want to size down in this specific cardigan.

Sweater Blazer For Work

A sweater blazer or cardigan blazer is a go-to piece for a work wardrobe. You can pair a black, gray, or tan sweater blazer with just about anything to make it work appropriate – whether that’s a dress, work trousers, or jeans. I’ve owned this gray sheath dress for so many years, and it looks really nice with a sweater blazer. These sweater blazers are the perfect length, especially if you’re ever concerned by a dress being a little tight. Plus, it has pockets, which are so helpful if you need to carry a phone, wallet, or badge at work without toting around a bag.

Spring Blouse and Cardigan For Work and Weekend

This purple blouse is absolutely stunning for spring! I just love it. She’s perfect! I love to pay attention to little details like the wrist on this top. It really elevates your outfit!

Anyway, I would wear this under a boyfriend cardigan with jeans, work trousers, or a skirt. This top would also look super chic with a neutral sheath dress over it.

Pastel Pink Cardigan For Spring

Pastel pink makes me think of spring, but don’t hesitate to wear this one now! This cardigan is one you can wear over jeans, but I really liked how Mango styled it with this skirt. Wear this now with boots and wear ballet flats or loafers in the spring.

Casual Long Cardigan For Weekend Look

There’s nothing better than a long cardigan that goes perfectly with leggings. This one comes in tan or black. I’d throw this on for any weekend activity where you don’t want to wear jeans, whether you’re running errands or making a coffee run. You could also wear this to school drop off and pick up, or if you’re watching your kiddo play sports! These sneakers are still one of my go-to pairs. They’re really comfortable, and they look cute with a lot of different outfits.

Fun Cardigan For All Year – Boho Long Cardigan

This colorful cardigan is so fun! I think it would be perfect with jeans and booties, but it’s also something that you could wear to work over a plain dress. I styled it below with the same skirt as above for a boho look. This feels like something I’d wear in LA!
