Hi there! Thanks for stopping by today. We’ve been having a real spring this year here in Washington, D.C. We’ve had cold days and some really nice days. I’ve enjoyed them all because the humidity isn’t here yet, and I’ve had fun styling outfits for different temperatures.
Anyway, dressing for this weather can be fun and tricky at the same time. Some days are sunny, and some days are cold and rainy! I’ve written a few other blog posts on dressing for spring, but today I’m sharing a roundup of cold day outfits that you can add to your spring wardrobe rotation while waiting for the weather to warm up!

Six Cold Spring Day Outfit Ideas
Gray Cardigan and Gray Jeans
An all gray outfit feels pretty fitting for chilly spring days. I love most any type of monochrome outfit, so I was excited to shop my own closet and find this one! My exact jeans are available in a few sizes, as well as another cut but same color.
I also love this pair. I wear these constantly in a different color! If you go for these jeans, they look really cute with an oversized sweater like this one.
I linked a few gray cardigans that I like too. I went for black ballet flats (in stock black ballet flats linked below) instead of booties to bring the whole look together for a spring feel instead of a winter feel!
Linen Bomber Jacket With A Dress or Jeans
When you think of a bomber jacket, you probably don’t immediately think of spring. But, this one is a linen bomber jacket, which does make me think of spring! I also love the color. The khaki green is both on-trend and classic. Wear the jacket over this white blouse, which has a beautiful textured print on it that distinguishes it from a typical white button up. This blouse is a closet staple because it works for the weekend, a causal office, or even a formal office. It also comes in other colors, and the green would look nice with the bomber jacket too.
While we are dressing for a cold day, it is still spring, so I love to add accessories that feel like the season. This ecru bag and these canvas sneakers are the perfect final touches to make this look say spring and not fall!
Cardigan and Trousers
I wore this outfit to my birthday breakfast in mid-March, and it happened to be a beautiful spring day that was chilly in the morning. I love this cardigan because you can wear it by itself or you can layer it. If I’m adding a layer, I typically wear it with this corduroy jacket I’m wearing in the other photo below. It fits perfectly underneath! You can find more spring layered outfits in this recent blog post.
My cardigan and jacket come in so many different material and color options, so there are even more spring-like options if you aren’t into neutrals as much as I am! Either way, both this cardigan and jacket work as spring pieces!
Linen Trench Coat Layer
I was just thinking how much I’d like a linen trench coat and then this one popped up. I styled the linen trench with a very springy skirt and a cardigan that also feels more spring than winter. The belt and boots are the same color and the same brand, and I think all of the neutrals in different textures work nicely together.
I also like the idea of wearing this coat over a knit and jeans, or you can layer it over a dress too. It would pair nicely with this shirt dress in either color. If you have a Hill House nap dress, you could layer the dress with a lightweight turtleneck. The linen trench coat would be a good final spring layer for that outfit too.
Spring Sweater And Cropped Jeans With Embroidery
This look is a good option for a spring day where it’s chilly in the morning and not too cold the rest of the day. Sweaters are definitely still appropriate through spring, especially when you’re putting together a cold spring outfit! I recently purchased these jeans from Sezane because they screamed spring to me. I love how Sezane styled them with a sweater too. Red is such a fun pop of color with the embroidery.
I recently saw this cardigan and shell in store, and they’re the perfect weight for any spring day. These are closet staples that you can wear with these fun jeans or with a more serious outfit – like a suit. These pieces aren’t bulky, so they’re also easy to layer over, whether you want to wear a trench coat or a suit jacket.
I love the idea of accessorizing with a straw bag to pull in more of a spring vibe. Okay, last but not least, these ballet flats are so cute in person. I was in a rush, but I had time to quickly slip my foot in one of them at Dolce Vita’s new store here in DC. Click here to see them on me in the wrong size, ha! These suede loafers are also a beautiful option.
Suede Trench Coat And Long Sleeve T-Shirt With Edgy Belt
A suede trench coat is another option that works for the fall or the spring. If you’re going to invest in suede, it’s a good thing to wear it as much as possible! It pairs well with boots, but I’d go for ballet flats, loafers, or even sneakers. Just like some of the other layer options, a suede trench will look nice with a dress, skirt, or jeans! I love how the color of this trench coat is a perfect light neutral, so it won’t look as heavy.
The black and hardware belt will bring a fun vibe to this look. If you want something a little more classic, I also linked this black belt that I wear all the time.
I hope this post helped you find something to wear when you’re dealing with fickle spring weather! If you made it this far, let me know which outfit is your favorite. Thanks so much for stopping by.
