What to Wear with a Navy Blue Sweater Blazer

Hello there! I think I’ve said this before, but navy blue is one of my favorite neutrals. It’s a softer alternative to black, but it’s still just as beautiful and creates a similar vibe. Plus, it goes with just as many colors, styles, and patterns as other neutrals. While I live in neutrals all year, I’m excited this sweater blazer is navy instead of black because navy feels more like spring and fall – and a little less like winter!

The sweater blazer I’m wearing is unique in that it has structure, which is something I love about it. It doesn’t feel like you’re drowning in it, and it actually highlights your waist. Plus, you can wear it open or buttoned up. The other thing about the versatility of this sweater blazer is that you can wear it across different seasons, which is something I consider when I’m buying a piece like this!

Okay, let’s talk about sizing! I purchased a small, and I can comfortably wear mine open or with the top two buttons buttoned! I actually wanted to get a medium to make sure I had enough room in my stomach and ribs, but the sleeves would’ve been too long. In the end, size small, which is my typical size for a layering or outerwear piece like this, worked out perfectly. So, I’d say it runs true to size.

Today, I’m sharing a roundup of items that you can wear with a navy blue sweater blazer like mine and a few outfit ideas as well.

Cream Layering Shirt

This cream layering top is one of my go-to tops all year. I get so much use out of it in the spring and fall because I wear it under blazers like this one. It’s ribbed, which is a nice detail that elevates the top and makes it look like you aren’t just wearing a t-shirt. It’s definitely tailored enough to wear to the office.

Neutral Belt

This blazer is designed to cut in at your waist, so pairing it with a belt is super easy because you aren’t bunching together a ton of fabric. I love how it looks with a belt around it when you’ve buttoned the top two buttons on the blazer. It just looks so chic! I don’t have any photos of me wearing it like that, but I’ve tried this look with this black leather belt and plan to wear it this way in the future. A dark brown leather belt would also look nice if you have brown shoes like this pair!

Black Jeans

You might not pick black denim as your first choice to wear with a navy sweater blazer, but I highly recommend it! This sweater blazer elevated my black raw hem jeans for a fun and put together look for a day out for errands and lunch. The first pair I linked are the pair I’m wearing in this blog post. Okay, I know we’re talking about jeans right now, but this blazer would be really cute in the fall and winter with black leather pants.

Ballet Flats

I’ve mostly opted for ballet flats when I wear this blazer. You can wear a tan, beige, or cream flat, and I’ve also worn black ballet flats as you can see at the top of this post! I love these ecru flats – click here to see them on me! The strap on them is adjustable and they’re a really pretty color for spring, summer, and fall.

I’ve also worn loafers with this sweater blazer and tan jeans. You can see that outfit video here.

Ecru Jeans

I love how this sweater blazer looks against ecru for warmer days. In fact, one of the things I love about this sweater blazer is it’s the perfect piece of outerwear for spring and fall days when you don’t need a coat. I also included some tan jeans that look nice with navy. I’ve worn the second pair with this blazer already. You can see that outfit here.

Beige Trousers

To be honest, this navy goes with beige, white, camel, black, or even navy trousers. But, I wanted to highlight these crepe trousers because I love how this sweater blazer looks with them. It’s such a pretty combination of flowy and structured pieces. Again, the colors really pop against each other! These pants are crepe, which means they’re super lightweight and perfect for spring and summer. Click here to see the sweater blazer and these pants on me.

Navy Blazer And Wide Leg Jeans

Wide leg jeans always looks nice with a top that cinches at your waist in contrast to the loose jeans! Don’t get me wrong, I love to wear a relaxed top with wide leg jeans too. But, since this blazer cinches perfectly at the waist, it pairs well with wide leg jeans. This pair is a slim wide leg fit, which feels like a bit of an oxymoron, but it’s true! They’re super flattering and aren’t as difficult to style as true wide leg jeans. I’m wearing my normal size in these. I linked my exact pair of jeans in different washes.

Edgy and Classic Sweater Blazer Outfit

I loved how my black jeans, black shell top, and black ballet flats all worked seamlessly with my navy blazer. I love when an outfit combines an edgier piece with a more classic piece. In this case, the raw hem black jeans are edgy and the sweater blazer is classic.

Spring layered outfit idea

I linked my exact jeans. My shell is super old from J.Crew, but they made another one this year, so I linked that as well. The black ballet flats I linked are also J.Crew. I’ve seen them in person, and they’re really beautiful leather. Click here to see a photo I took of them in store. Mine are super old!

Sweater Blazer Outfit For Work

Okay, I love this sweater blazer outfit for work. This blazer is so versatile, and you can definitely wear it to the office. I’d pair it with the crepe pants I mentioned above and a pair of ballet flats. You could wear it open with a fitted button up – I linked a fun striped one. Or, style it buttoned with a crewneck layering top like the two I linked below.
