Hello, hello! How are you? I’ve been pulling some warm weather clothes from the back of my closet as the temperatures heat up here, and I recently reached for this floral dress. Floral patterns are perfect to add a romantic and feminine touch to your outfit any time of the year.
I end up wearing the couple of floral dresses I have quite a bit, whether for a hot summer day, a trip to a winery with friends, or a special occasion. So, I love having them on hand and consider them a closet staple! The one I’m wearing for the spring and summer seasons is pretty bright, but I love a more muted tone dress for fall. If you’re a neutral lover like me, there are actually some gorgeous neutral floral dress options out right now that would work with a sweater layered over them too! Anyway, let’s talk about what shoes to wear with these dresses!
Here are a few floral dresses for different purposes that I like.

What Shoes To Wear With Floral Dresses For Different Seasons And Occasions
Mesh Ballet Flats
These mesh ballet flats have been my go-to shoe this spring, and I’m planning to wear them all summer because they’re so breathable. No one likes sweaty feet! Anyway, these flats just add a super chic touch to your outfit. They’re perfect to wear with a floral dress because they’re subtle enough that they won’t take away from your dress or make your outfit feel busy. They come in perfect color options, too – black, brown, red, etc.
I’m wearing my normal size 6, but some people recommend sizing down half a size and I could’ve done that as well!
Over-The-Knee Boots
Dear reader, I can’t even explain to you how pregnant I was in this photo except to say that I gave birth soon after this photo was taken, ha! Anyway, this floral midi dress is one I wear during the fall. I love floral dress options for fall and winter, too!
I paired this dress with suede brown over-the-knee boots here. The chocolate brown pairs perfectly with the maroon and soft blues in this dress for a fall vibe. I imagined myself wearing this at a winery if I weren’t pregnant. Anyway, there’s something so chic about over the knee boots and a midi dress! I also like wearing this dress with a crewneck sweater over the top.
Canvas Sneakers
Sneakers and a dress have become a classic combination, and it gives an effortlessly cool girl vibe. There are endless options out there for sneakers these days, and I love a lot of them! I wear my Sambas, for example, with a lot of solid dresses. But, for a floral dress, I like something more classic. I recently found a pair that I think are perfect for spring, summer, and fall in this canvas pair from Sezane. These would be super cute for a vacation where you’ll walk a lot or even just weekend errands.
Vejas are also a good option – click here to see how I wore them in London with my floral dress from the first couple of photos in this blog post.
Black Combat Boots And Brown Suede Boots
My black combat boots and brown suede chunky boots are my go-to boots for fall, whether I’m wearing a floral dress or jeans. I styled an outfit below with my exact combat boots that I wear all the time when it’s cooler outside. Both of my chunky boots come up a little higher on my leg than ankle boots, which I love. Boots like these are a good option for a floral mini, midi, or maxi dress! They add a fun edgy vibe to the romantic, feminine feel of a floral dress!
The link to the jacket is showing up in the white version of the jacket, but the black is still available!
Heeled Sandals
I definitely turn to a floral dress for some sort of special occasion, whether that’s a baby shower or an engagement party. So, heeled sandals are a great option for these types of events! I’ve always worn this pair of heeled sandals because they’re easy to walk in and super flattering on your foot. In fact, I wore them with my white floral dress to a work event a few years ago!
Neutral Espadrilles
Espadrilles are a requirement for my closet because they can be both comfortable and chic. The ballet flat trend has also crossed over to espadrilles – brands like Loeffler Randall make gorgeous ballet flat inspired espadrilles that really elevate your outfit even as flats! I also love heeled espadrille sandals with a floral dress like I’m wearing below (mine are old but I linked a few that felt similar and a few I just love).
Flat Sandals Or Slides
Sandals feel like the most obvious thing to wear with a floral dress! I love to wear casual slides with the white floral dress at the top of this post. I love some of the leather sandals I’ve seen recently, so I’m linking a few below!
