Hello there! Thank you for stopping by today. One of the things I love about fashion is personal style. To some, outfits are a fun way to express yourself, but it also doesn’t have to be that deep – you can just love what you love! I fall somewhere in the middle. Anyway, one of the things I love is to add edgy pieces into my wardrobe, and I’ve always included that vibe in my work wardrobe as well. So, today, I’m sharing a roundup of edgy and professional outfits that you can wear to work.
Edgy fashion style can be worn in all different types of dress codes and help elevate your office look. It can be something as simple as a belt or the centerpiece of your outfit, like a leather skirt. There are lots of different ways to dress edgy – it all depends on your personal style! Your entire outfit doesn’t have to be made up of edgy pieces. Instead, you can mix super romantic and feminine pieces with edgier pieces in the same outfit. This is what I love to do.
I use affiliate links throughout this blog post, which means I might make a commission if you use my link and then make a purchase. This commission comes at no cost to you.
Before I get into outfit ideas, I wanted to share a few places I love to shop for edgier pieces. While you can find an edgy piece or two at a lot of different stores, I love All Saints, Massimo Dutti, Mango, and even Everlane. Maje and Sandro also have edgy investment pieces that you can incorporate into your wardrobe.
10 Edgy Office Wear Outfit Ideas For Different Dress Codes
Edgy Office Outfit 1: For Business Casual Offices
Loafers are a great way to add edge to your outfit without compromising your dress code. Chunky loafers are the best option to add edge to your look, but even a classic penny loafer will work. While I’m wearing a linen t-shirt below, you can also wear this exact outfit with a button up or an elevated blouse to dress up your outfit – all while keeping it a little edgy with your loafers and black pleated skirt.
Edgy Office Outfit 2: How To Wear Combat Boots To Work
Combat boots are the perfect edgy work shoe in the spring and fall for business casual or casual offices. They’re one of my favorite things to wear when the weather is right! They look really nice with a pleated skirt or a maxi slip skirt. I like to make sure the skirt is long enough to cover the top of my boots so there isn’t a gap between my skirt and shoes. If you prefer pants, you can style combat boots with jeans or work trousers like I did below. The options are endless with these shoes!
Edgy Office Outfit 3: Olive Pants And On-Trend Fisherman Sandals For A Casual Dress Code
For a casual office outfit that you can wear in spring, summer, or fall, these on-trend olive green pants and on-trend sandals are perfectly edgy. You can get away with a lot with a casual dress code, including these fisherman espadrille sandals. They’re also available in brown, but the black leather is really what adds the edge to your look. The color of my pants also adds a cool girl vibe – just think how different this outfit would feel with white pants and brown sandals – it would have a much more classic feel!
Edgy Office Outfit 4: How To Wear Sneakers To Work
If you work somewhere with a casual dress code, sneakers are the perfect way to add a fun bit of edge to your look. Sambas are still very popular, but they also go with a lot! They come in so many different color combinations now, but the classic pair like I’m wearing below or something similar are a good option if you’re wearing them to work. These go perfectly with black work trousers and an oversized button up. You could also wear these with a black dress.
If you are looking for something brighter, I love how these Veja sneakers look with a suit like this one. Don’t forget you can normally wear your suits as separates too!
Edgy Office Outfit 5: Chunky Boots With An Oversized Blazer
This was one of my favorite outfits to wear in the fall when I was pregnant, and I still love this look now that I’m not pregnant! If you work in a casual office environment, this is a great spring or fall outfit idea. Chunky boots are an edgy alternative to flat knee high boots or ballet flats. An oversized blazer always helps add a cool girl vibe to your look, too! If you’re wondering what to wear under a blazer, I have an entire blog post with ideas.
Edgy Office Outfit 6: How To Add Edge To A Hill House Dress For Work
You might not consider a Hill House Nap Dress right away when you’re putting together an edgy office look, but I think this dress is super versatile! For work, add a button up under it and pair it with chunky loafers. In the winter, you could also pair this look with tall chunky boots and a turtleneck.
Edgy Office Outfit 7: Linen Blazer With Jeans
These high rise mom jeans and an oversized linen blazer like this one are the perfect spring, summer, and fall edgy outfit formula for a business casual work environment, especially on a Friday. Wear the blazer open with a a fitted black tank top or keep it buttoned up for a polished (and still edgy) look. Change up your shoes based on the season. I love these Sezane slingbacks for each season, but they definitely add a warm weather feel to the look.
If you’re looking for the same vibe with an even more tailored look, try this dark gray pair of jeans. I own these exact jeans in two different blues and they’re the perfect straight leg jean! Click here to see them on me.
Edgy Office Outfit 8: Linen Dress And Leather Jacket
My linen dress is the perfect work to weekend option and the perfect summer to fall dress. Basically, it’s just incredibly versatile. While it’s a v-neck, you can layer it with a button up for the office. In the spring and fall, you can wear it with a leather jacket, leather blazer, or your choice of outerwear. The leather jacket will give your look edge, and in the summer, you can go for a chunky loafer to help achieve the same vibe. I’m wearing ballet flats in the photos below, but I love how this looks with loafers. PS this dress also comes in black! Size down one size!
Edgy Office Outfit 9: Suiting For A Formal Dress Code
A pinstripe suit is a fun twist on a classic outfit for a formal office environment. I love this navy suit blazer and these< matching trousers/a>. I also love this brown linen suit jacket and matching trousers for warmer days, and they’re at a more approachable price point as well.
Edgy Office Outfit 10: How To Wear Edgy Accessories With A Formal Dress Code
If you love to wear edgy pieces and you work somewhere with a formal dress code, you can still incorporate edgy into your look. This is a great dress code to use your accessories to add a bit of edge, such as a fun belt.
