Hello there! It’s going to be in the 90s for the foreseeable future here in Washington, DC so I’ve turned to skirts and dresses a lot recently. One piece I really love is my black maxi skirt. I spent a lot of time searching for the perfect black maxi skirt, and I found a cotton one that I love. I started out looking for a linen skirt, but I decided a cotton skirt will take me through so many more seasons. Cotton is the perfect material if you want something you can wear through a lot of the year. However, I love a black linen skirt for summer and fall too!
If you’re interested in my exact skirt, here’s some sizing info! I’m 5’4, and I bought my skirt in the petite option for length. I was pleased that the waist measurements seemed to be the same for the petite skirt fit as the regular skirt fit. I hate when the waist measurements change for petites because I never know what size to order! Anyway, I did try the regular skirt as well, but it was a little bit too long. I’m often on the edge of needing petites (depending on the brand), but if you’re 5’4 or shorter, then you should consider the petite option in this exact skirt too.
I love everything about this skirt. It’s the perfect length, and it has pockets. There’s just enough fabric to give it a bit of a luxurious feel, but it’s not too much fabric. It’s also the perfect length to wear with flats or with a small heel – wear to work or wear to brunch! Okay, one last thing. You can wear a belt with it too. It doesn’t have belt loops, but I tried it with a belt and it worked easily.

I have this t-shirt in multiple colors and love it because it’s so low maintenance but looks great. I purchase size small, and it’s true to size. Anyway, this look will take you from day to night, and all you have to do is change your shoes! I’ve purchased several pairs of shoes and sandals from Sezane, and they have such nice quality pieces. I wear my standard shoe size!

I styled this look for an average fall day here on the east coast, which looks like temperatures around the 60s or so. This short sleeve sweater is made up of wool and cashmere. So, they give you some protection that you don’t get from a super flat sandal, and they’re easy to walk in.
