How to Style Women’s Sailor Pants

Hi there! Are you as ready for fall as I am? One of my favorite things about fall is all the ways to wear denim! I actually wear jeans all year, but I feel like fall is one of the best seasons for styling them. This year, I’ve really loved sailor pants and sailor denim in particular. So, I picked up these sailor jeans, and I’m so glad I did. If you’re looking for a pair of jeans you’ll feel confident in, this is the pair to try! Whether you go for sailor jeans or sailor pants, this style is so flattering.

How to Style Women's Sailor Pants

While sailor pants are a unique style, you might be surprised how versatile these jeans are! Okay, you might associate sailor with summer when it comes to fashion, (I know I do), but there are plenty of ways you can style them for other seasons as well. So, today I’m sharing a roundup of ways to style women’s sailor pants.

How to Style Women’s Sailor Pants Throughout The Year

There are lots of cute ways to style sailor pants for different things you might do, but first let’s chat about what sailor pants are!

What Are Sailor Pants And Why Are They So Popular Right Now

Sailor pants typically have patch pockets on the front. Sometimes, the pockets have a button (like mine do), and sometimes they don’t! They tend to be high waisted.

Why they’re so popular: These pants are normally comfortable and they have a nice fit. They hit at the perfect part of your waist, and the cut of the pant are also flattering. I carry baby weight in my midsection, but you’d never be able to tell in sailor pants because of the strategic pocket placement and the waist. I personally love how these pants often have a tailored hem. This detail gives your outfit a polished, sophisticated look.

Style tip: These pants look the best when you tuck in your top so you aren’t covering up the pocket detail on the front of the pants!

Six Sailor Pants Outfits You Should Give A Try

Sailor Jeans With A Lightweight Cotton Sweater

I love the light denim color of my sailor pants because they pair perfectly with neutrals or vibrant colors. I’ve worn these pants with a lot of neutrals, but I’ve also worn them with a bright red t-shirt! My exact top in the photo below works well with sailor pants because of how nicely it lays when you tuck it in. It’s Italian cotton, which apparently means it is absolutely gorgeous in person and so soft. Plus, it’s on sale! Use code ALWAYS15 for an additional 15% off, too. I’m wearing a size small, and I think this top runs true to size. It says dry clean, which I don’t mind, but I’ve honestly washed and dried this top multiple times without issue. Sailor Jeans With A Bright T-Shirt And Blazer

As I mentioned above, sailor jeans also look fabulous with bright colors! I love to wear mine with this exact bright red t-shirt. You can easily layer this look with a lightweight jacket like a blazer once you need an extra layer. Or, if you need something with a little more weight, I’m in love with this beautiful suede jacket.

Chino Sailor Pants For A Casual Outfit

Chino pants are the perfect transitional pant, whether you’re dressing for late summer into fall or dressing for spring. I tried this pair in store and really loved them, and I’m considering the honey brown color, which I styled below for a casual look, for my own closet. They come in tons of other color options, so you’ll definitely find a pair that goes with pieces you already have in your wardrobe. You can style these pants with ballet flats, loafers, or sandals. The pants and ballet flats run true to size! Click here to see these flats on me.

Black Sailor Pants For Work

Okay, I love these pants so much when I was coming up with an outfit for them that I decided to do a workwear look too. I love this look because it’s monochrome, and I think monochrome dressing is power dressing. You’ll almost always feel good in a monochrome outfit! I’d say this outfit is perfect for a casual or a relaxed business casual work environment. If you’re required to wear suiting, this obviously won’t work unless you have a casual Friday! I love this denim shirt jacket because it’s the perfect cut to pair with sailor pants.

Sailor Jeans For Date Night

I wore these jeans with an off the shoulder top for a casual date night earlier this year, and I really loved it! I was comfortable, but I felt very chic. My exact top is sold out, but I love this one.
