Welcome, fashion lover! It gets QUITE warm in Washington, D.C. in the summer (and even the spring depending on the year!), but I still love to wear denim on many occasions – especially if I’ll be inside. While white jeans are great, there are a lot of really nice lighter shades of denim also available this year – tan, beige, ecru – you name it – that I think are perfect for styling with cute spring and summer tops.

These tan jeans are from Zara. Click on the photo for the link to this exact pair.

I love how this type of denim can be styled with a button down like above or something more casual, like a linen t-shirt and nice sandals. When the weather was a little cooler earlier this spring, I wore these pants with a bright cashmere sweater. If you’ve read any of my blogs before, you know I look for versatility when shopping, and this type of denim is perfect to dress up or down – and wear in early spring or summer. Below are some of my favorite pairs right now. Just click on the image to go to the link.

I also put together some outfit ideas for a few pairs of these jeans! Just like above, you can click on each thumbnail image below the outfits as they are linked.

Both of the above tops are linen, so they will be super lightweight and perfect for spring and summer. I love this Fendi raffia bag in such a fun purple, and I also included a gorgeous wicker bag that is a neutral (it also comes in another neutral tan, pink, and mint green!) These slides are a perfect designer dupe and also come in cognac. I would wear either of these outfits to brunch, dinner, or running errands – really anything. The linen button down could also be tied in a knot if you don’t want to tuck the shirt in or think it’s too long!

This blazer is one of my favorites! I’ve linked it several times on my Instagram and LTK page, and it’s currently on sale (it also comes in navy.) I would probably drape the blazer over my shoulders if it’s really warm out, or if I am going out to dinner. The top I included has a zipper all the way up the back – a detail I think adds a lot to a plain black top! You can go dressier or casual with this look, so I included both espadrilles and heels – the heel is the braided style that is everywhere this season (and it also comes in other colors, including a pretty blue.)

I wanted to pair these jeans with white to make sure not to take too much away from the beautiful color of denim! The puff sleeve top has a scoop v-neck back that is the perfect scoop – not too low, but definitely noticeable. I love hair accessories with simple summer outfits, so this twilly scrunchie is the perfect fun addition, especially with a plain shirt (or to show off the scoop back detail.) If you go for the white t-shirt, it’s a longline linen top, so you can also tie this in a knot in the front! And these slides – I have added them to my own cart today. I can’t believe they’re $41, but I really love how simple they are. If you aren’t into hair accessories and want a fun shoe, check out this pair of polka dot raffia slides.
