Hello there and welcome!! Whenever the July 4 holiday is over, fall fashion starts creeping in, which is kind of unfortunate for me since it stays so hot in DC for so long ha! However, that doesn’t stop me from starting to put together fall looks and eye pieces I want to add to my closet! I just love fall fashion. One of the things I always think about is versatility, especially if it’s a piece you may want to wear across seasons. So, today, I put together a bunch of outfits that you can wear right now and into fall.
Ten Summer Outfits That You Can Turn Into Outfits for Fall
Some of these outfits include the same pieces, which is on purpose! I love picking items that work across seasons, especially basics like a linen t-shirt or my slingback shoes.
Black Linen Pants With Slingback Shoes
If you want an easy to wear outfit that makes you feel chic, try this look. Black linen pants are a great base for summer and fall transitional dressing. They don’t have an overly summer feel the way white linen does. Slingback shoes are also an essential – they let your feet breathe, but they give you more coverage than a sandal! I highly recommend these slingback shoes that I’m wearing. They’re absolutely gorgeous in person and they are so comfortable! Plus, they’re lightweight, so your feet don’t feel sweaty when you walk in them. You can see an up close video I took of them here.
Pants and top linked are similar – the first pair of pants linked look to be the most similar to mine, which are sold out at Abercrombie.
Linen Dress And Button Up For Early Fall
This linen dress has been my number one closet staple this summer. It’s the perfect off white color. I’ve worn it everywhere – from New England summer days to DC nights, ha! This exact look is perfect to wear right now and into the start of fall, especially if you live somewhere with warm temperatures into early fall. Since it’s a sleeveless dress, it works really well for hot summer days and it’s easy to layer with a button up come September! My dress also comes in black.
My exact sandals are sold out in this color, but I linked them in gold! I love this dress with slingbacks too, which are great for fall but I also wear them right now like in the first photo. I linked those slingbacks in gold. One way you could style these in the fall with either of these gold shoes is with a khaki green jacket. I love this one – it’s on my wishlist.
Linen Dress, Leather Jacket, And Ballet Flats
Here’s one other way I’m planning to style this dress for the fall – with a jacket and ballet flats. I love to layer with a leather jacket! I’ve included a few leather jackets below that are currently on sale and mesh ballet flats that I’ve been eyeing for fall. The brown leather jacket and the pink nude mesh ballet flats would be super chic together with this dress.
Effortless Chic: Linen Pants And Top
If you like an outfit that you can easily throw on for work and again on the weekend, this is a great option for you. I love these elevated linen pants, which also come in navy blue and white. They have belt loops so you can dress up your outfit with accessories. They also have pockets, which are great for work. I always loved pockets when I was in the office because I needed to be able to carry multiple things without lugging a bag around. You might want to opt for a blouse for the office! Okay, to transition this look into fall, simply layer it with a cotton cardigan, a lightweight jacket, or a blazer!
Olive Green Trousers With Black V-Neck Top: Date Night Outfit
I spent an entire blog post talking about how versatile, chic, and comfortable these pants are! I absolutely love them, and I wear them all the time. They are really lightweight, which makes them perfect for summer, spring, and fall. You can style them with sandals, ballet flats, or even a little heel if you want to dress them up. I’m wearing flat slingbacks here. I had my pants tailored by my go-to tailor, but the lovely thing about Reformation is alterations are included with your purchase!

Lightweight Olive Green Trousers And Slingback Shoes
I love these trousers and my woven slingback shoes photographed separately above – they’re both high quality and they’re super comfortable. So, I wanted to put together an outfit wearing both of them together. You can wear this look now and into fall. Like a lot of looks I put together, this one is something to wear to work or on the weekend.
Cropped Jeans And Striped T-Shirt
Okay, even though our summers here in DC are uncomfortably hot, I still can’t give up my jeans. I just love them. So, if you’re like me or if you live in a place where the heat isn’t so miserable, this is a great outfit for you to wear right now and into fall. This black and white striped shirt is a classic piece for summer, fall, or springtime! Sandals are a good option early in the fall when it’s still warm.
Flowy Black Dress To Wear Day To Night
This dress was gifted to me by Sezane. I stopped by the pop-up here in Georgetown and fell in love with this dress. I realized how many different ways I can style it throughout so many seasons and occasions. I love a dress like this that you can wear with sneakers or dress up for a nice dinner. If you want a more casual version, check out the denim version! And, if you’re someone who loves to wear color, there’s also a beautiful bright version.
On sizing – If you’re between sizes, I recommend going with your smaller size. I wanted this dress to be flowy and longer on me, and I still sized down one size.
Navy Blue Cotton Mini Dress
I also picked up this dress recently because it’s one of those dresses you can throw on and go without having to style it. It will work with sandals, loafers, or slingbacks too. One of my favorite things about transitional dressing from summer to fall is including pieces from both seasons that work together. Basket bags are a great example. They look really nice with early fall outfits. Anyway, if you’re looking for a fall shoe that you can wear with this dress and lots of other looks, I love how a minidress looks with loafers – loafers give an outfit a fall vibe.
On sizing, this dress is slightly oversized. If you’re between sizes, I would size down. I typically buy a 6 here, but I purchased size 4.
Hill House Nap Dress
A black Hill House nap dress is the perfect midi dress for summer and into fall. You can wear it with just about any pair of shoes and you can add a cropped jacket to layer it. Or, wear a turtleneck underneath. I love the crepe material to wear for both seasons.
