Tis the season, fashion lovers! It’s hard to believe holiday get togethers are in full swing, and I think it’s pretty exciting we get to gather in person this year. I’m sharing a few outfit ideas for Christmas based on totally different occasions. I spend a lot of time in comfy clothes around the holidays but I also put on real clothes for Christmas or holiday get togethers. Anyway, whether you are shopping for cute pajamas or a festive look, I’ve got you covered!
Let’s start with the anywhere look. If you’re looking for an easy outfit that will work for many different holiday occasions – holiday parties, office parties, Christmas brunch or dinner – a dress (whether short or midi), is your best bet.
I picked the first two because I always like the option of something with a print and then a solid. Plus, they’re different lengths! You can pair either of these dresses with either of these shoes. You could also wear a strappy sandal to really elevate either dress. Green is super on trend this year, which kind of works out perfectly for the holiday season.
The other three dresses are the same dress in different colors – a cashmere blend dress, and it comes in green, tan, and black, which are all easy to style for a holiday event. You could wear any of them with fun shoes (see below!) or keep it more simple and wear black boots or a mule like above.
If you’re anything like me, you like to be comfortable for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, but still get dressed! I looked for something that I knew would have a comfortable waist since I am always snacking or having a big meal during the holidays – I own this pleated skirt in black, and it’s definitely comfortable. It’s also on sale today if you spend $60 with code 6777.
Pair this pleated skirt with one of these tops. You might be wondering about the color, but it’s actually described as a dark red-brown. It still feels festive to me! These are all very different tops and would make for very different looks. I really love all of them, but I think my favorite has to be the sequin half zip. It’s such a fun take on a classic piece, and honestly, you can also wear it again with jeans and boots or festive shoes (like one of the pairs below). The last shirt is a satin finish flowy shirt, and it would look cute with a belt around the waist of the skirt to help highlight your shape – sometimes two flowy pieces need a belt to show shape. PS – velvet is super on trend this season, so you also can’t go wrong with the black velvet top!
I have some friends who do have office parties this year and some friends who don’t, but honestly, these outfits can be worn to just about any holiday party/event you have. I really love the versatility of each of these skirts for that reason – whether you pick a mini skirt or the midi sequin skirt, you can wear them to your work party or you can wear them to your best friend’s party! For the shorter skirts, I always pair with tights for work, but if you want to change up the look for outside of work, you could pair any of the shorter skirts with knee high or over the knee boots and a sweater. Pair any of these skirts with one of the tops above! For the sequin skirt, I would definitely go with the satin finish button down. PS- the metallic skirt also has a matching blazer, and there are also matching pants.
Okay, I really love all of these dresses. The first dress is a shimmer sweater dress, and it’s perfect if you are looking for a festive look that isn’t too over the top (as in, you don’t want to be decked out in sequins but you aren’t the Grinch)! However, I also included this gorgeous gold sequin midi dress for sequin lovers. The way it is styled with a brown tall boot is exactly how I would wear it, but it would also look nice with pumps or a strappy sandal. I really love the flare on both of these dresses. Last but not least, the faux leather mixed media dress is one you can wear to work on any cold weather day as well. I love how it looks like you’ve layered a top under a leather dress.
If you are looking for pants, both of these tartan pants are so cute and much easier to style than you might think. Wear with a neutral sweater (I would pick black), but you can also go for a monochrome look and pair with a brighter color in the tartan plaid. I think the red tartan pants would look really cute with a bright red sweater, and the other pair would look good with a dark green sweater. For reference, I wear a size 2 in this pair of tartan pants (also linked above)!
Another easy option for a festive outfit is to pair a plain skirt or pants (jeans, black pants, etc) and sweater with holiday inspired shoes.
This pair is one of my favorites. While these weren’t made again this year, if you’re looking for tartan, I do recommend the pairs below. Sarah Flint also has really pretty shoes for this time of the year. There’s nothing better than being cozy on Christmas Day. Depending on where I’m spending Christmas, sometimes I’m in pajamas or sweats for most of the day. So, I picked some of my favorites this year that I thought you could mix and match depending on what you like!
What are you wearing this holiday season? Happy Holidays!
