Cheers to a new year! I hope you had a wonderful time celebrating the New Year, whether you stayed at home (like me) or were out and about making a big night of it!
The start of a new year always feels like a good time for a wardrobe refresh, and today I’m sharing pieces that are perfect for work. Before we dive in, I use affiliate links throughout this blog post, which means I might make a commission if you use my link and then make a purchase. This commission comes at no cost to you.
A Work Wardrobe Refresh
So, my favorite places to shop for work in general are J.Crew, Sezane, Mango (they have great blazers), and Bloomingdales or Nordstrom for brands like Sandro and Maje, although their prices tend to be pricier so I shop when they’re on sale. If you love Theory like I do, Theory Outlet is such a good place to shop! Their staff at an outlet location told me their pieces are the same as what they sell in their Theory stores or department stores, so the quality is exactly the same.
Okay, I love each piece I’m sharing today because they also work for going from the office to a happy hour, dinner, and are even good for the weekend. I always consider how versatile something is before purchasing it, and I also always consider how it will go with other pieces I already have in my closet.
Shop My Outfit
In addition to essentials, I also love to wear a fun blazer, a skirt with a bright pattern, or a matching set to the office. Unless your office has a strict suit or formal business dress code (I’ve been there!!), an outfit of leather pants, a sweater or button down, a blazer, and ballet flats is just as office appropriate as your favorite sheath dress. My point is, you don’t always have to wear the outfit that feels safe, but I definitely keep that look on hand in case I know I need it or feel unsure about what to wear. Your work wardrobe does not have to be boring to be appropriate!
The look I photographed for this blog post is something I wear regularly – a skirt, top, a blazer, and some variation of boots, loafers, or ballet flats. I will also occasionally wear heels if I need to for work. These are my go-to pair. In fact, I own them in several colors!
I like to keep several staples that I build a work wardrobe around! See below for the types of pieces that I consider essentials. You can wear each of these pieces with so many other pieces also included below or already in your closet.
