Hi there, fashion lover! I’ve always been someone who has lived in jeans – even sometimes in the DC heat – but jeans aren’t the most natural option for pregnancy when your go to pair is high waist jeans! Anyway, maternity jeans aside, today I wanted to share a few things that I’ve enjoyed/ have been comfortable to wear during pregnancy. If you’ve read my blog before, I always talk about being able to rewear things, so I’ve tried to only buy things that I can also wear after baby arrives.
Bump Friendly and Non-Maternity Outfits Perfect for Pregnancy
Flowy Dress
Flowy dresses are an obvious option when it comes to to accommodating a bump during the summer temperatures. The one I’m wearing below can also be worn really casually with slides or even as a swimsuit cover up. You might wonder why I would pick something with sleeves, but this dress is super lightweight. Plus, I have the unfortunate luck of being loved by mosquitoes, so I like that the sleeves give me a little more protection for when I’m outside – especially if I’m at dinner.
I linked the exact dress I’m wearing, and it comes in several color options. I’m not sure about the other options, but I did not find this dress to be see through. I would recommend wearing black or nude undergarments, though.
Fitted Dress
Going in the totally opposite direction, I’ve also found pregnancy to be a great time to wear fitted dresses and not worry about them being too tight! They’re definitely in style right now, and they’re easy to transition from summer to fall. I will add a shirt jacket or cardigan to mine, and trade my sandals for boots or booties. Most importantly, I’ve found they’re really comfortable on my bump – especially during the second trimester – because they stretch.
As you can see below, I also have this dress in black. Outfit inspiration below for dressing up this dress! While my exact dress is currently sold out, I’ve linked similar options below. The rust color will look really cute with booties and some sort of jacket in the fall. I would’ve bought the dress in black if I didn’t already have something so similar. As a neutral, it will go with many options.
T-Shirt Dress
There’s nothing better than throwing on something comfortable and feeling put together. That feeling is this t-shirt dress for me! I’m wearing a size small, and it fits comfortably while not being too baggy (or too short). T-shirt dresses have been perfect for pregnancy during the summer because you can just size up! I plan to wear this during the fall with a black blazer and black loafers.
Linen Shirtdress
Have you ever bought something knowing you will wear it a lot, but still end up shocked at just how much you wear it? This linen shirtdress below is one I’ve worn for several summers now. It is always comfortable, and it’s really the perfect dress for the heat and humidity here during the summer. One of the best things about this dress is you can throw it in the washer and dryer, and, for me, it has not shrunk. I also own it in navy. If I had to point to my most worn summer outfit, this dress is probably it. It is sold out in the color I have on in this photo, but the navy and peach linked below are still in stock in certain sizes and on sale. If you want to see the navy on me, click here or here!
Plaid Dress
The plaid dress below was something I bought in the middle of the summer knowing I would be able to wear it through the fall. You can see it styled two ways below – one for early fall or late summer with sandals, and the second for fall once I start wearing boots! I love the tie at the waist because you can adjust how tight the dress is at your waist, which is a great feature when styling something with a bump.
Midi Skirt and Linen Top
Okay, this last outfit is one I put together for summer, but the brown skirt has been one of my favorites since I bought it in the spring. It is so, so comfortable and really breathable, so I haven’t been hot in it on the many 90 plus degree days we’ve had this summer. I shared more about the set this skirt is part of at the top of this blog post. I love to dress this skirt up with these sandals – they’re a pair I’ve been wearing on repeat since I bought them. Click here to see a reel I shared on Instagram on how to dress up this skirt (or something similar) and a linen top.
That’s all from me today! Thanks so much for stopping by!
