Burgundy Shoe Style Guide

Hello there! Have you started shoe shopping for fall and winter? I’ve been doing a lot of window shopping so far, but there are always so many cute shoes out this time of the year. One thing I’ve seen, and I’m sure you have as well, is how popular burgundy shoes are this fall. They’re a statement piece that can instantly make your outfit stand out, but burgundy is subtle enough to not take over your entire outfit. I love that! Plus, burgundy is actually super versatile, so it’s not one of those trendy pieces you won’t be able to wear a lot. If you love the idea of burgundy shoes but aren’t sure what to wear with them, this post is for you!

Burgundy Shoe Style Guide

Today, I’ll help you style different types of burgundy shoes, whether you choose a pair of boots, ballet flats, loafers, or heels. Wearing burgundy shoes doesn’t have to be hard!

Are Burgundy Shoes In Style

Yes! Not only is burgundy very on-trend, it’s the perfect color for fall and winter. Burgundy shoes are a great way to add a trend to a classic outfit, whether it’s for work or going out for a fun night. I love to turn to shoes and accessories for trends when I don’t want to invest in an entire outfit. Like I said, burgundy is a trend I can get behind because it’s subtle – unlike the pops of red we’ve been seeing. It doesn’t have to be the focus of your outfit, but it definitely will add visual interest.

What To Wear With Burgundy Shoes

Okay, let’s talk about styling burgundy shoes – what should you wear with them? First, I’m sharing a few pieces I’d style with burgundy shoes, and then there are several outfit ideas with everything put together.

Satin Pants

This pair of satin pants comes in several color options that are perfect to wear with burgundy shoes, but I would go for the navy. I love how navy and burgundy look together. Anyway, I love this pant with burgundy kitten heels for work or a special dinner, or with the sneakers for a smart casual outfit. Burgundy shoes would also go with the lighter shades these pants come in too.

Corduroy Pants

These corduroy pants that I just received caught my eye because they’re the perfect fall neutral. They’re also really cute on! I spent a bit of time thinking about what I would wear with them, and I came up with multiple outfits. But, one thing they’ll go with is a pair of burgundy shoes, especially ballet flats or booties.

A White Shirt

If you aren’t sure how to wear a trendier shoe, start by wearing them with a classic closet staple like a white shirt. You can create several outfits with a white shirt and different bottoms, such as corduroy pants or satin pants, with burgundy shoes.

Burgundy Cashmere Socks

Burgundy socks with burgundy loafers will look so chic. Loafers with socks are still going strong, but this is something you can wear even if it’s not necessarily trendy. I think I’ve said this before, but I’ve always loved this style because my mom has worn it as long as I can remember. I personally wear my loafers and socks with jeans, but you can definitely do this with trousers, or even a dress or skirt. I’m only linking this pair of cashmere socks because they’re the pair I’ve worn year after year.

Black Jeans, Brown Jeans, Or Dark Blue Jeans

Black jeans or blue jeans are my go-to denim ideas for burgundy shoes, especially a medium or dark blue wash. I do also love brown with burgundy, though, and there are so many brown jeans out right now. The darker denim washes will look perfect against the burgundy. This is a great example of how these shoes won’t overtake your outfit. They won’t stand out too much, but they will add a fun detail to your look that simple black shoes wouldn’t!

How To Style Burgundy Shoes

Here are some outfit ideas with burgundy shoes for different occasions. You could also consider any of these outfits for gatherings that you have over the holiday season!

Satin Pants For A Dressy Occasion Or Casual Weekend

I keep looking at these satin pants in different colors, and I can’t decide which color I like the most. But, I definitely love navy the most with burgundy shoes. Monochrome looks are always so chic, and I love how the different textures give the outfit so much depth. Plus, if you’re going for the fun dressy look, a pointed toe shoe always helps make you look taller. This outfit is perfect for Thanksgiving or any other holiday you’re celebrating where you’re having a large meal and want to feel comfortable.

Cashmere Sweater Dress And Burgundy Knee High Boots

If you’re thinking about the burgundy shoe trend but don’t want to invest too much in it, this is an outfit to consider. These boots are vegan suede, and they’re under $100. You can pair them with a higher end product like a cashmere dress. This outfit is super cozy, chic, and one you can wear anywhere – including to work. Don’t forget the belt, which is the same color as the boots. I love this look for Thanksgiving Day!

Cashmere Top Or Button Up With Corduroy Pants And Burgundy Flats

Ballet flats are one style of shoe that will never go out of style, and this almond toe shape is the best shape out there. I just got these corduroy pants in, and I love them. They’re technically cropped, but I’m 5’4 so they’re a great length on me. I love how they look with a white shirt and burgundy accessories. You typically don’t want more than three colors in your outfits, and the burgundy accessories are the perfect way to work in an accent color. Okay, I linked a gorgeous Tory Burch bag in burgundy, but click here to see it on me in suede.

Burgundy Loafers, Socks, And Jeans

This outfit is for a casual work environment, the weekend, or maybe even the holidays, and you definitely need to be into burgundy! There’s something about socks with loafers that makes an outfit instantly cozy. Plus, this sweater is brushed cashmere, which only adds to the warmth! I love all the different textures in this outfit in the shades of burgundy. The loafers and the bag match perfectly, as do the top and socks.

That’s all from me today! What do you think of the burgundy trend?
