Hi there! Thanks so much for stopping by today. Fall fashion can be a lot of fun with layers, different textures, and incorporating new colors into your outfits that bring the season alive. While jeans, trousers, and leggings are staples in the fall, adding skirts to your wardrobe rotation can be so helpful to expanding your outfit options. Fall is one of my favorite seasons to wear skirts because you can have a lot of fun with different styles of shoes. If you’re looking for skirt outfits to wear to work, on vacation, or just to wear on the weekend this season, this post is for you.

You can shop my exact skirt here. It also comes in the solid color options of natural, black, and navy. I’ve been thinking about pick it up in a solid color this year. I also recently saw this patterned knit option in store, and it is beautiful. It comes in a really pretty brown or green.

Neutral Slip Skirt You Can Wear Anywhere

This skirt comes in a wide range of colors, and it’s appropriate for work and cute enough to wear on the weekend too. So, no matter where you’re going, you can get the perfect skirt outfit from this option. It’s not maternity, but if you’re pregnant or a new mom, you should check it out. The waistband is entirely elastic, which makes it easy to wear when you’re pregnant. I wore this during my own pregnancy by sizing up. The elastic waistband, which is hidden, also means it’s super comfortable for anyone. You can see a few ways to style it here and here.

Black Cotton Skirt

This cotton skirt is actually the perfect fall skirt because of the material. Cotton is so breathable and not too heavy. So, it’s a nice option for fall days where you aren’t ready to totally bundle up. It’s also really versatile, as you can wear this skirt with a wool sweater or with a lightweight blouse. As for shoes, you can wear it with loafers, ballet flats, or boots. I’m 5’4 and I’m wearing the skirt in the petites option. It’s available in black or white in sizes 0-12, in petite sizing, and in black in sizes 14-24.

Matching Knit Set

My knit skirt is one of my favorite pieces in my closet. It’s a wool-cotton blend that is just so well made! It’s pretty thick, so you can’t see anything through it. I always check if you can see underwear lines in knit skirts because they can be quite fitted! This skirt is perfect to wear on a fun night out or even to brunch. It’s one of those pieces you’ll always be able to wear to special occasions, too, like a baby shower or birthday party. I love the stripe option I’m wearing, but it also comes in several solid options that are just as classic. All of these skirts are a nice base for an outfit. My exact cardigan is sold out, but you can get the matching crewneck sweater in the same color here.

My exact boots are old Tory Burch banana boots that are currently available in wide calf. I love these beautiful brown banana boots, which come in regular width. The heel height looks similar too. Suede jackets, barn jackets, and blazers have been everywhere the past several fall seasons, and they would all pair nicely with this skirt. You could also wear an oversized sweater untucked with it too.

Black Pleated Skirt With Combat Boots

This outfit is for you if you like to wear edgy and romantic pieces together. Combat boots balance out this super feminine pleated skirt so this outfit has a fun vibe. I wore this look last fall, winter, and even in the spring, and it’s one I will definitely wear again. You could also wear a maxi slip skirt with this outfit. This is the same cardigan I am wearing in the outfit above, and I recommend this crewneck again since it’s the exact same color!

My combat boots are old from Mango, so I’m sharing a few below that I like. I also linked two pairs of loafers that I think would be cute with this outfit. A Few Tips On How To Wear A Skirt In The Fall

Here are a few things I’ve learned about wearing skirts during the fall over the years. Do you have any tips for wearing a skirt this fall? Let me know in the comments.

When To Wear Different Fabrics

Cotton skirts are my go-to for most of fall, but choosing the best fabric to wear depends on the weather where you live. Cotton is a failsafe option if you’re in an area like DC, where it’s still warm through September and even in part of October. You won’t be too hot in cotton. But, a cotton skirt is super versatile, so you can still wear it with boots on a crisp day. I typically save my knit skirts for once the weather is actually cool. The same thing goes for most slip skirts since they tend to be polyester, which is not nearly as breathable as cotton. I typically wear my slip skirts once the temperatures are in the low 70s!

How To Style Boots With A Midi Skirt

Boots are one of the chicest ways to wear midi skirts or maxi skirts in the fall. The most important thing is to make sure your boots hit slightly above your skirt line. If there’s a space between your skirt and where your boots start, it might make you look shorter. When it’s cold outside, I love to wear knee high or over the knee boots for added warmth.

Boots also look really nice with a mini skirt if you prefer that length! There are a lot of cute mini skirts out right now that would pair well with black or brown knee high boots. You could also wear a mini skirt with booties and tights. I love this faux leather option because you can wear it with or without tights depending on the time of the year and the boots you pick.

Okay, that’s all from me today! I hope this post was helpful as you start to wear skirts this fall.
