Hi there! I’m so happy you stopped by to talk cardigans today. I love wearing cardigans in the fall, winter, and spring. I even love a beach cardigan in the summer. Whether they’re short, cropped, long, or just a normal length, cardigans in general are a wardrobe staple that you can wear all year.
Long Cardigan Outfits
Okay, today we are focusing on how to wear a long cardigan, and there are tons of options when it comes to long cardigan outfits! You can style a long cardigan for work just as easily as you can wear one around the house to keep warm. They even work for date night with a skirt. I love wearing my favorite sweaters in different ways.
How To Style A Long Cardigan
I’ve put together an edit of outfit ideas for long cardigans specifically, but first, here are a few long cardigans I love. I own and love the first two. I am now eyeing the sleeveless one since writing this post, ha!

Long Cashmere Cardigan And Relaxed Jeans
If you’re looking for a long cardigan that can do it all, the cashmere one I’m wearing is it. It comes in the perfect neutral options, so you can really get so much use from it. I love that it’s ribbed because it feels a little more elevated than your typical oversized cardigan. I’ve worn it a million different ways, but I always love it with jeans. I’m wearing my normal size because I bought it when I was pregnant. However, if you aren’t pregnant, I’d size down one size!
I recreated my outfit, but my cardigan is exact. It’s available in the color I’m wearing, navy, and black!
Long Cardigan Comfortable For Pregnancy
This is the same cardigan I’m wearing above, but here’s one way I styled it when I was pregnant. I also loved to wear it over fitted dresses with comfortable sneakers.

Long Cardigan and Sweater Pants
This cardigan and the sweater pants are the perfect match for work or the weekend. I don’t have a great photo of me in this cardigan, so I’m linking to a video of it. This cardigan isn’t super long, but it’s long enough to wear with knit pants, traditional work pants, or jeans. I also wear it around the house with a t-shirt and sweatpants, ha! You can see it on me in grey or cream. I’m wearing size small. If you’re between sizes, size down for a closer fit or keep your most worn size for a slightly oversized fit.
Long Cardigan With Straight Leg Jeans
A long cardigan with jeans is a classic outfit, and this really long cardigan pairs nicely with a pair of straight leg or skinny jeans. A tailored cut jean is a reliable cut for this type of sweater – since the sweater is loose, you can balance out your look with more tailored pants. I styled this long cardigan below to wear out of the house, but it’s definitely a piece I’d wear around the house too. This cardigan is a great option if you’re tall!
Sleeveless Cardigan For Spring, Summer, and Fall
Cardigans aren’t just for winter. This sleeveless cardigan is a total dream in cut and color – look at the cinching on the waist! The welt pockets are perfectly placed, and since they’re flat, they won’t add any extra width to you. The color is super versatile. I styled it with a neutral skirt below, but I also linked some other skirts I’d wear with it. If skirts aren’t your thing, I understand – jeans, flowy satin pants, and pretty much any other type of bottom will also look nice with it. I have a linen longline vest in this cut, and it looks really cute with jeans.
Leather Pants and Cashmere Cardigan
These skinny black leather pants are beautiful, but so are the suede, which is why I linked them both. I love this tie waist cardigan in black or white with either pants. You could also wear them with the ribbed cardigan and a denim button up, turtleneck, or a t-shirt, depending on how casual you want to look. The black leather pants would be really fun to dress up with metallic ballet flats or heels. I own and love this pair, and they look so cute with sock tights to keep warm (you can see them on me here). These outfits also work with faux leather pants!
Sweater Blazer Cardigan For Work
A sweater blazer or cardigan blazer is a go-to piece for a work wardrobe. You can pair a neutral sweater blazer with just about anything to make it work appropriate – whether that’s a dress, work trousers, or jeans. I’ve owned several versions of this sheath dress for so many years, and it looks really nice with a sweater blazer. These sweater blazers are the perfect length, especially if you’re ever concerned by a dress being a little tight. Plus, it has pockets, which are so helpful if you need to carry a phone, wallet, or badge at work without toting around a bag.
Spring Floral Cardigan With Cream Jeans And T-Shirt
This long floral cardigan was made for spring transitional dressing. It’s perfect! I love that it’s mostly cotton for so many reasons, but especially because it will be soft and breathable. You can wear this cardigan with jeans and a white top, or you can dress it up for work with a blouse and work pants! I saw these jeans in store the other day, and I am definitely adding them to my spring wishlist. They’re a really fun cut and the color is perfect for spring. The raw hem is a fun contrast with the super feminine floral sweater.
Spring Floral Cardigan For Work
I love sneaking a nice t-shirt into a work outfit, which is what I did here. Don’t hesitate to wear your nice t-shirts to work! Anyway, this cardigan would also look nice with a crisp white button up and these work pants! The options are pretty endless!
Easy Cardigan Outfit Formula With Jeans
If you’re looking for an outfit formula for a long cardigan, then jeans, booties, and a t-shirt are a great option. I especially love a striped tee for the spring or fall!
I hope you found a new way to style a long cardigan! I love how versatile long cardigans are, and how you can even wear the same cardigan to date night that you can wear to work. Let me know if you have a favorite outfit in the comments.
