How to Style a Tan Blazer

Happy Monday! I’ve been sick, so this blog post is going up a little later than I expected, but I hope it’s helpful anyway. I’m excited about today’s post because blazers are such a key part of my closet. I think I’ve said this before, but whenever I feel like my outfit is missing something, I typically feel put together with a complete look if I add a blazer. They’re also a good option for transitioning seasons.

There are so many different types of blazers these days! Whether you want a classic blazer, an oversize blazer, a sweater blazer, or a lady jacket – the options are endless. While black and navy blue blazers are classic pieces, so are tan blazers!

A Few Thoughts On How to Style a Tan Blazer

Wearing A Tan Blazer Outside of The Office

One of the things about blazers that I love is they are not reserved for the office. You don’t have to wear a suit or dress pants for some big meeting in order to wear a blazer. I do love to wear a blazer with trousers casually! Anyway, my point is that blazers make the perfect casual or business casual look, and they can add a fun edge to your outfit. If you’re wondering when you’d wear a blazer with your outfits, think about using a blazer instead of a cardigan!

Styling This Season’s Trend: A Lady Jacket Blazer

Lady jackets are everywhere right now! While they are definitely on-trend, I don’t think they’re going anywhere any time soon, which I love! The cropped cut is so flattering, and you will get so much wear out of them because they’re work appropriate or weekend appropriate. There are a few outfit ideas later in this post on how to style the one I linked here.

When to Pick An Oversized Blazer

I think an oversized blazer always looks cute with skinny jeans or a fitted dress for a contrast in how your pieces fit. You can see what I mean in the sweater dress outfit a little further down in this post. We’re also at the perfect time of the year to pair an oversized blazer with white skinny jeans and ballet flats.

Seven Tan Blazer Outfit Ideas

My favorite part of writing these posts is putting together the outfit ideas. So, let’s look at some tan blazer outfits for different occasions!

Tan Blazer With A Sweater Dress

On the east coast, fall is the best time of the year to break out a sweater dress. They look so cute with a blazer! I wore this monochrome look all the time when I was pregnant. There’s really nothing better than a cozy sweater dress and a blazer when you’re pregnant. I also love this outfit now though. I’ve owned this dress for years, and I always love to wear it throughout the fall and winter. I think this is a classic look that will never go out of style.

Business Casual In A Tan Blazer

I put together this outfit idea for the gal who needs an outfit to go from work to weekend – my favorite type of outfit! I love these blue jeans that I recently purchased. I talk more about them here if you’re looking for details, but they’re a great price point and feel like jeans that cost double the price. The exact pair I’m wearing are linked here, and I linked a couple of other pairs below.

Okay, this is more of a camel blazer, but I definitely think it still counts. Plus, it’s stunning and I had to include it! I love this piece because you can wear it to work or style it with jeans for a more casual look. Either way, it will elevate your look.

I styled a simple white t shirt with the first outfit idea since I didn’t want to distract from the blazer and skirt! You could also style this same outfit with a solid skirt, like this one.

Wearing Tan With Black or Grey Denim

I love pairing tan or camel with black denim or grey denim. Here’s a photo I snapped of a grey denim and tan lady sweater jacket outfit when I was out running errands and shopping. Grey and tan are especially on-trend right now! I put together a couple of additional grey and tan looks. I love the first outfit for a casual work look, a city vacation, or for a weekend lunch with friends.

The look below is definitely one for the office. This dress is stunning! You could also wear a tan lady jacket with this dress.

Tan Blazer Casual Weekend Look

A tan blazer with a hoodie under it is the easiest weekend look, and it is so comfortable. If you want to elevate your look, go for a cashmere hoodie.

I’ve worked in offices with varying dress codes, and my sweater blazer has always been work appropriate. You can wear a tan sweater blazer with work pants, nude heels, and a button up for a more formal look. Or, you can wear it as part of a casual outfit with a t-shirt and jeans. The t-shirt I linked below is very high quality, and it’s pretty thick. This outfit is one I’d wear for casual office attire or on the weekend. I love to use mine as a fall layer, too, since I don’t need a real coat just yet. I’m not ready for that!

This outfit would also look good with a black turtleneck!

How to Wear A Tan Blazer for Date Night

I posted this date night look on Instagram earlier this year, but one of the things I love about wearing a neutral color is this outfit also works for fall! It was one of the first date night looks I wore after having my baby. I always feel comfortable in an oversize blazer, so I paired it with jeans that worked for me postpartum and some high heel boots.

You could also go for leather pants instead of denim. There are a lot of brown and burgundy leather pants or leather skirts out this year that would be cute with a tan blazer. I would pick brown or burgundy leather over black leather for this look.

Okay, what’s your favorite way to wear a tan blazer?! Let me know!

Thanks so much for stopping by! That’s all from me today!
