Hi there! We are in full linen season now that it’s somehow almost July! If you’re looking for something lightweight and chic to wear, a linen maxi skirt is a go-to piece for when the temperatures start to rise. It’s the best of both worlds. Like most of the pieces I like to share, linen skirts are easy to dress up or dress down depending on where you’re heading. Another thing I love about linen is that it’s a natural fabric, which is one of the reasons it’s so breathable and comfortable.
How To Wear a Linen Maxi Skirt
Before we get into linen skirt outfit ideas, here are just a few tips on wearing a linen maxi skirt! First, I love to mix and match lightweight fabrics with linen to add dimension to your look. A cotton top always looks nice with linen. If this tip isn’t for you, no worries! Matching sets are always in style, and linen sets are just as cute as mixing up your fabrics. Next, if you’re short like me, you might consider wearing a small heel (or whatever height is your favorite) with your maxi skirt to give yourself a little extra height. Click here to see how I wear a low heel slingback shoe with my maxi skirt (mine is cotton, and I’m wearing the 6 petite).
I’ve included several linen maxi skirts below that I love. These are all skirts that I think you could wear for different occasions and dress up or down.
Linen Maxi Skirt Outfit 1: Black Linen Maxi Skirt For Weekend Outfit
Do you ever wish you had a go-to summer outfit that you can wear all weekend? This black linen skirt is the perfect base for that type of outfit. You can dress it up or dress it down. Plus, it’s only $35! I own this black and white striped t-shirt from COS and absolutely love it. I put it through the washer and the dryer without any issue! It’s true to size. I also own these fisherman espadrille sandals, and they’re probably the most comfortable shoe I own.
Linen Maxi Skirt Outfit 2: The Wear Anywhere White Linen Skirt With Dart Details
The dart detail at the waist of this skirt made me fall in love with it! The eye catching details make it stand out from other white linen skirts. It’s also lined, which is both an important and nice feature! You can wear this to work with an eyelet blouse or on a summer trip with a totally different top! If you need office shoes, these airy low heel ballet flats are a great option. As a third option, wear this skirt with these fun espadrilles and a comfortable t-shirt for your summer vacation.
Linen Maxi Skirt Outfit 3: Red Linen Skirt And Matching Red Linen Top
If you want something super easy to wear on summer vacation, this matching red linen set is the answer! I wish I had time to purchase this for myself before I went on vacation to Maine. You don’t need to do a lot to make this look chic because it’s already so fabulous. I would go for brown, tan, beige, or white shoes. These are my current favorites (if you’re between sizes, go up half a size). But, I also love this pair, which have a tiny heel!
If you want to add a layer to this look, you could go for an oversized denim button up like this one or keep it classic with this denim jacket. I like both!
Linen Maxi Skirt Outfit 4: Day to Night In A Gingham Linen Maxi Skirt For Summer Vacation
Gingham always reminds me of summer, and this black and white gingham is beautiful! This skirt is perfect to wear from daytime to night. During the day, you can pair this with a simple t-shirt. If you’re wondering what to wear it with for dinner or a night out, I love this one in black that I recently wore in a different print (click here to see it on me). It’s perfect to wear with this skirt because it balances out a romantic piece with a top that’s a little more va-va-vroom, ha! If an open back top isn’t for you, then I also love this black linen vest. It looks perfect with a maxi skirt – I wore this exact vest with a black cotton maxi skirt and loved how it looked, so I think this will have the same vibe.
Another nice thing about this skirt is that it’s also work appropriate.
Linen Maxi Skirt Outfit 5: Brown Linen Maxi Pencil Skirt
Sometimes a pencil skirt feels like it’s best for the office, but this brown pencil skirt will look cute styled for the weekend or a trip too! I would go for this baby pink linen and cotton blend t-shirt and these sandals for the perfect effortless chic look. Of course, you can wear this to work with this beautifully tailored white blouse. This skirt is high waisted, so a boxy, short, or crop top will also look nice with it.
These linen skirt outfit ideas will also work with a linen midi skirt if you like that cut and style better. I personally love both! If you’re wondering what to wear with a silk skirt, check out this blog post! Did you find an outfit idea that you love? Let me know in the comments!
