Hi there! Transitional seasons like spring and fall are the perfect time of the year to turn to shirt jackets, or shackets as we might call them, to keep warm (but not too warm). Leather shackets in particular are a great option because they’re a little more versatile than a wool shirt jacket.

Leather Shackets
First, here are a few leather shirt jackets I love. I own the first two.

Leather Shacket Outfit Ideas
Below are outfits I’ve worn with leather shirt jackets and outfit ideas that I put together. You’ll notice there are two outfits for each shirt jacket. That’s because I don’t think you should invest in something like a leather shirt jacket unless you can wear it in more than one way. Even faux leather shirt jackets are an investment.
Suede Leather Shacket With A Skirt
A slip skirt might not be the first thing you think to wear with a shirt jacket since a shirt jacket feels casual. But, a leather shirt jacket and a skirt is actually an easy outfit to wear to work. You’ll be comfortable, stylish, and professional all at the same time.

Suede Leather Shacket And Jeans
This is a super casual, super comfortable shirt jacket outfit, but I think it looks really nice! I also love that this suede shirt jacket is the same one I’m wearing above – it shows just how versatile it is!

Green Suede Shacket With Jeans
This green suede jacket is the perfect shade of green if you ask me! It matches gray, black, cream, white, tan, etc. It looks so beautiful with jeans, but I also love it with a cotton skirt or a dress. If you want to wear this to work, you can also style it with tailored pants.

Green Suede Shacket And Cotton Skirt For Spring
Okay, this outfit is one I’ve been dreaming up in my head for quite some time. I love the start of transitional seasons like spring because you can mix in some heavier pieces – like a leather shacket – with new seasons pieces like a cotton skirt. This outfit is also versatile depending on the weather because you can wear it with boots or flats!
Edgy Leather Shacket Outfit
If you want to make your leather shacket outfit feel a little edgy, opt for black. You could do a monochrome outfit with a black leather shirt jacket, black jeans, and loafers. I really love this sleeveless cashmere top with everything else – it adds a nice texture and since it’s cashmere, it elevates your look. Wear barrel jeans to make it really edgy! I have the pair below on my wishlist. If you’re looking for tips on barrel jeans, check out my blog post on how to style barrel jeans.
Work Outfit: Black Work Pants And Leather Shirt Jacket
These black work trousers are perfect to wear with a leather shirt jacket for an office look. I love this type of outfit for when you have fun plans after work. These pants are a total dream work pant. They’re super comfortable, they don’t feel too heavy, and they dont wrinkle easily. They’re a classic work pant. You can see them on me here. The leather shirt jacket gives the outfit a fun twist and shows off your personal style. All in all, the outfit is very simple yet sophisticated!
Neutral Leather Shirt Jacket And Jeans
The color of this shirt jacket is called mushroom, and it looks like a really nice neutral for spring and fall. I love how they styled it with medium to lighter wash denim, which is a go-to wash for spring. These patch pocket style jeans are both fun and flattering.
Neutral Leather Shirt Jacket For Something Fun
This skirt is designed to fall just above your knee, so it’s not too short. The lace detail makes it feel super romantic and a little 90s, so a leather shacket is the perfect outerwear to balance out the outfit with a little edge. I paired this with a cashmere top below, but it would look just as cute with a simple cotton tshirt. I recently bought and really love this one.
Navy Leather Shacket And Silk Dress
Another way to wear a shirt jacket is over a silk dress. You might hear silk dress and wonder about the price. This one is under $100. I actually have a pair of silk pants from Quince, and I really love the quality. Anyway, this is a cute date night option! But, since the silk dress has a high neck, you can also wear this outfit to work. If you want to wear this look on a cold spring day, you can wear boots, and ballet flats, slingbacks, or a pump will look really nice in spring.
Casual But Polished Navy Monochrome Outfit
Navy is a great option for monochrome because it’s not too edgy or too soft. It feels really polished! I recently purchased these barrel jeans, and I’ve been wearing them every chance I can. So, I wanted to style them with a leather shirt jacket for a monochrome look. Wear this on weekends or if you work in a casual office!
