Hi there! Welcome to a brand new blog post on wearing chunky boots! I initially wrote this blog post years ago, but chunky boots are still a big part of my closet today. And, they’re also still in style. I always talk about how I love versatile pieces that are timeless, and combat boots or lug sole boots are part of that. A piece can be classic while also fun and edgy!
Today, I’m sharing a roundup of updated chunky boots looks.
11 Ways to Wear Chunky Boots With Skirts, Denim, and Dresses
Combat Boots With A Skirt
The outfit options with combat boots and a skirt are pretty endless, which is one of the reasons to have a pair of these boots in your closet! I also love the edgy vibe they bring to an outfit. I just got this pair in, and I love them. They’re beautiful in person!

Chelsea Boots With A Pleated Skirt
This outfit is one still one of my favorite looks because it made me feel so confident! Plus, it’s pregnancy friendly (second skirt link). I wear these Chelsea boots all the time. They’re sadly not sold anymore, but there are so many similar options I found if you’re looking for a pair like mine.
My jacket is reversible, and it’s a great option for spring and fall. I’ve linked this similar one before. I honestly can’t believe how alike they are – down to the chambray piping – and it’s a really good price-point. It’s even reversible like mine, and the colors on the opposite side are darker like on my jacket.
Chelsea Boots And Jeans for The Weekend
You can also tuck in your jeans to your chunky boots to add more of an edge to your look. This looks really good on people who are a little taller than I am, ha! I recreated this look in grey, which I actually like better than the outfit I own. In my experience, the blazer brand runs slightly big, so I recommend sizing down one size.
Combat Boots And Jeans for The Weekend
Here’s another way I wore this blazer recently. I paired them with my black leather combat boots! I’ve been wearing these boots everywhere, and they’re just perfect for the weekend when it’s cold. I love how these jeans look over the boots. I recreated my outfit in grey – a split blazer like mine but in grey, a grey sweater, my exact jeans, and my exact boots!
Chunky Boots And An Oversized Blazer
Whether you pair your oversized blazer with a shirt dress, slip skirt, or jeans, I love the combo of a blazer with platform boots. I’m wearing ankle boots here
Combat Boots and A Flowy, Floral Dress
Chunky boots also go well with a floral, girly dress. This one has been on my mind since I saw it! It’s so pretty, and I think it could be worn on so many different occasions. Use the belt to make it less flowy for date night!
Oversize Sweater and Jeans For The Mom On The Go
I wore this outfit to be warm and comfortable when I knew I was going to be moving baby around a lot while out and about. It was perfect for a busy day out – I didn’t think once about what I was wearing! My exact sweater and boots are sold out, so I linked pieces I liked or consider to be similar. I also love this outfit with black leather pants. These leather joggers would be really cute with an oversized sweater and a pair of chunky boots.
The second sweater I linked is a new favorite of mine – I own it in grey and love it. Click here to see it on me.
Knee High Boots and A Sweater Dress
I love anything brown suede, so I had to include these boots. They’ll be perfect against a cozy sweater dress, and the heel gives them an even more elevated look.
Chunky Boots for Wintery Weather
Okay, one of my best friends is moving to London, and I showed her these boots. I was like, you need these knee high boots for commuting! They’re perfect, especially if you’re in the city and going in and out of the metro. They are shearling lined!! I’ve been dreaming about them, but I don’t have a specific need for them right now. They’re beautiful enough to leave on once you’re at work. I would pair these with a midi dress or a flowy sweater skirt. I linked several cozy boot options below with the same idea in mind.
Cozy Chunky Boots Outfit for Errands
If you’re like me, you definitely want to be comfortable when you’re out running errands. This look is similar to one I recently wore for just that. These relaxed jeans come in a range of colors and so many sizes – ranging from short to tall. They’re one of my favorite pairs of jeans because they’re so comfortable, but you can dress them up or down. Click here to see how I dressed them up. Anyway, these jeans are perfect if you want to wear your chunky boots underneath your jeans.
Knee High Black Chunky Boots and Pleated Skirt
Okay, yes, another skirt with chunky black boots outfit, but it’s just such an easy concept that you can get a lot of outfits from. This is perfect for date night, and it’s bump friendly. I love these black boots so much – they’re super easy to walk in. My exact pair are sold out, but I linked a very similar pair by the same brand.
Whether you go for knee high boots, ankle boots, or somewhere in between, chunky boots can add a fun edge to your look! That’s all from me today. Thanks for stopping by!
