Hi there, fashion lover! I’m still not even a year into my blog, so this is my first time covering the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! I’m excited to share my favorite picks with you from different categories. I will update these categories and potentially add more as the sale opens to different levels, but I wanted to share with you what I love from the preview in case you want to add anything to your wishlist or are able to start shopping at the beginning of the sale tomorrow.
I’ve used the look book tool here once before and I think it offers a better look at each item, so I’ve used that again for this post. First up are fall staples. The anniversary sale is such a good time to grab fall essentials that you know you’ll need, or maybe even wanted at the end of last year but were sold out! I tend to focus on these types of items because I know I will want to buy other fall items once fall clothes are out in full force.
Okay, going to share some thoughts on the pieces I picked!
Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Dress Picks
I picked a variety of dresses from the sale, and while many of them you can wear all year – starting now! – there are definitely a few that you would need to wait to wear until fall or winter. I also specifically picked three navy dresses and a faux leather dress for workwear. I would wear all of them now for work with the exception of the faux leather dress.
One of my favorite dresses is the green slip dress. I love a slip dress! They are perfect for weddings, date night, casual cold weather outfits (think chunky boots and a sweater), and everything in between! I was excited to find this dress in green because I also have a similar green slip dress that I reach for a lot.
Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Fall Staples Picks
The first piece … I love this puff sleeve top! It comes in black and a powder blue, and you could wear them both for totally different occasions. I would definitely wear this to work with pants or a suit skirt, but I’d also wear them casually. I would wear the black top with an all black outfit (think over the knee suede boots in the fall or winter with black skinny jeans) and the blue top with cropped light jeans and ballet flats. I also included a tan polo top that could be worn in similar ways. Both of these tops are perfect to take you between seasons!
I included the blazer (the second in the look book) because it’s something I would reach for to wear to work (love the look of it buttoned up with work pants) or to dinner with cropped flare jeans and booties or flats! Next up is a fun sweater with different shades of green. Even though it is not a neutral color, I still think of it as a staple because it is perfect to throw on for weekends or even a casual Friday at the office. I saw it in a different color combination in person and just loved it. It is so soft!
A mini dress is also a fall essential for me, and I picked this one because you can wear it with or without tights (and in more than one season).
If you’ve ever read any of my past blog posts or follow me on Instagram, you won’t be surprised that I included this black midi skirt. You can wear pleated midi skirts in so many different ways – see here and here for two ways to style this type of skirt in cold weather.
The last couple of pieces are jackets/coats! These are all staples in your wardrobe that you can wear again and again with different types of outfits. While I love to grab a coat in the off season when there are sales like this, I try to remember there are always so many good coats/jackets every new season that I end up wanting. So, when shopping a sale like this, I typically go for a coat/jacket that I’ve been eyeing for some time or one that I think I will wear frequently.

I also picked a few pairs of shoes – almost all boots – that I would consider fall staples. The chunky boots are definitely more casual in my opinion, but the over the knee boots and the short black boots with the buckle (the fourth and second pair respectively) are great for work and casual outfits! I also included a pair of fuzzy slippers because I’ve really lived in mine all year. (Honestly, hoping to spend less hours in my slippers the rest of the year!) Plus, I love the fun color. If yellow or pink aren’t for you, they also come in a pretty neutral gray/taupe.
Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Basics Picks
Just like fall staples, I think the sale is a good time to stock up on basics like denim, pants that you will wear frequently, and nice t-shirts – so that is what you will find in this category! I also included a dress that I thought you could get a lot of wear out of in different seasons as well as work/casual settings. I would add a belt to the dress to change up the look, and you can of course pair it with different shoes.
Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Sport Picks
Last (for now!) are sport picks. You might notice these are all the same brand, but it’s because their leisurewear is just so good! I love their biker shorts and their sports bras / sports tank tops – I wear them for both exercise and weekend errands.
