How A Neutral Lover Wears Pastels For Spring

Hi there! How are you? Its been a busy weekend here, but we had a fun one with family in town. We’ve had some incredible weather the past week too, which has been wonderful. So, I wanted to put together a blog post on spring looks with a focus on pastels.

How A Neutral Lover Wears Pastels For Spring

While I pretty much live in neutral outfits, I’ve always loved adding pastels to my looks for spring. They’re a classic choice in both fashion and decor. If you think of spring colors, you probably think of pastels. I love how soft pastel colors are. They aren’t bold like jewel tones, and I think that’s why, as a neutral lover, I don’t mind pastels.

Pastels For Spring

I typically go for something minimal when it comes to pastels – like a pastel blouse with jeans, or a pastel cardigan with a neutral t-shirt and neutral accessories. There are a lot of ways to wear pastels though – you could do a full monochrome look, just a handbag, or maybe go for something even more subtle like pastel nails. However you incorporate pastels into your wardrobe, they’re perfect for the bright, sunny days of spring! They’ll be easy to reach for once the weather gets nicer too.

Pastel sweaters for spring

Floral Sweater

If you get a true spring like we do here in DC, then you’ll need a sweater on a lot of days. This sweater has a subtle floral pattern, made up of mostly pastels. It’s a beautiful sweater, but I’m actually shocked at how many compliments I’ve gotten after only wearing it twice! I sized down one size as it runs slightly oversize.

Pastel sweaters for spring

It’s the perfect spring sweater for a neutral lover because it looks nice with classic accessories – like brown leather loafers. While I’m wearing it here with jeans, it will look really nice with any of those white dresses, white skirts, or beige work pants you have in your closet!

Blue Pastels For A Monochrome Look

I love how soft blues look with denim. They give a unique monochrome look, and monochrome is always flattering. Plus, you can wear them with brown leather accessories, or you can wear them with raffia accessories.

Pastel Sweaters

My exact cardigan looks really nice with jeans, but you can easily dress it up for work. I also love this type of sweater to wear over a dress. The color I’m wearing isn’t available this year, but I do love the pink and blue pastel options.

Yellow Pastels For Spring

Short sleeve sweaters and sweaters with stripes always feel like spring to me! So, I included a few below I love.

Short Sleeve Cashmere Sweater

Every spring and fall, I consider a short sleeve cashmere sweater at J.Crew because I love J.Crew’s cashmere. So, I finally picked up this one in white, and it’s stunning! It’s also the first sweater I linked below, and it comes in spring colors! I was a little thrown off by the fact that they’re cropped. I purchased a size medium, and it’s the perfect fit with high waist jeans. Spring is the best time of the year to wear a short sleeve sweater here on the east coast. But, you can wear a cashmere short sleeve sweater all year by layering over it.

Hill House Nap Dress For Easter

Pastel dresses and spring feel synonymous! Is there a better time to wear a pastel dress? I’ve rounded up several below that I love that you can wear with any type of shoes. I prefer ballet flats, loafers, or even boots.

The nap dress is something I think about this time of the year because you can wear it with layers – like one of the sweaters above – or wear it by itself. I like the midi length because I think it makes the most sense to layer with a turtleneck or cardigan, and it also feels the most versatile when it comes to shoes. A nap dress is one of those fashion trends that is staying in style, so it also feels like an investment piece you can wear year after year. I also included another Hill House dress I love in chocolate. You can wear a pastel cardigan with it! Pastel handbags for spring

Pastel Bags

A handbag is one of the easiest ways to incorporate pastels into your outfit if you’re a neutral lover. It’s the perfect touch of spring! I love a monochrome beige or cream outfit with a pastel handbag.

Pastel Blouses And Pastel Tops For Spring

Flowy Pastel Button Up Or Pastel Top

A pastel blouse is perfect to pair with blue denim or tan, beige, or ecru jeans. I love how this type of outfit looks with a neutral belt too. I generally don’t wear black jeans or accessories with pastels. Instead, go for something beige or tan!

I hope you found a new favorite outfit with pastels or some ideas for wearing pastels you already own. They’re definitely one color trend that will never go out of style for spring. Be sure to sign up for my email list below!
