Hi there! How was your holiday weekend? I hope it was both fun and relaxing. It was so nice to see family and enjoy good food, some champagne, holiday movies, and take lots of walks!

Okay, I know work schedules can be a little funky around the holidays, so I’ve put together outfit ideas to help you get through the rest of the year and into January. If you’re looking for classic outfits that will never go out of style, then an all black look is for you. And, each of these looks I put together are all black! You can mix and match so much here! Plus, these looks are so chic and elegant no matter where you wear them. You’ll be professional and put together at work without having to worry about what to wear.

I featured one black leather bag throughout this post. I think when you find a good work bag, it’s worth reusing with as many outfits as possible. Plus, you can use it outside of work too. I also like to repeat pieces in different types of outfits, so you’ll see the same sweater paired with different looks, for example. Okay, let’s talk about the looks!

Seven All Black Work Outfits To Get You Through Winter

Everyone has a different dress code at work, so there are outfit ideas for a formal work dress code as well as somewhere more casual. I’ve said this before, but if you’re new here, first of all, welcome! And, I’ve worked in almost every type of dress code – business casual, formal, casual (something I loved about working in tech!), and formal with a business casual dress code on certain days, so I feel like I have a good idea of what you might be able to wear.

Black Dress Pants to Wear All Year for Any Dress Code

Let’s start with a piece you can wear again and again – black trousers!

In general, black trousers will go a long way in your closet! In addition to the pair I’m wearing above, I recommend this pair to wear with sweaters and blouses. I own this pair in tan, which you can see on me here! While I linked this pair from Sezane above too, I have to let you know you can see these trousers on me in ecru here. They are absolutely stunning.

If you go for the crepe suit pants I mention later in this post, you can also wear those with lots of different tops and leave the blazer behind when you don’t need a full suit! I like to have a few pairs of black pants in my closet, along with other neutral options.

I know some offices require actual suits, but this look should work for every dress code – even a formal one. The lady jacket is very tailored and gives the outfit a formal touch.

Black Work Dress to Wear All Year

The nap dress is sneakily a great work dress. Don’t skip ahead if you’re a formal dress code gal because this outfit is just fine for a formal office! This dress is a fan favorite for warmer months, but it’s also cute with a turtleneck or a lady jacket when it’s cold. (Click to see how I styled with a lady jacket). It’s such a good piece to wear throughout the year, which, in my mind, makes it a worthwhile investment. The crepe nap dresses are cool enough for summer temperatures, but they’re so easy to layer. So, I picked the crepe one instead of just cotton.

When it’s cold, you can wear knee high black boots. You can always trade your boots for heels if you need to, but I’ve worn these boots to a formal work environment before. They’re a great pair to have during the fall and winter, especially if you’re a commuter because they’re waterproof.

I picked two options for tops to wear under the dress. The first link has a slight puff in the sleeve, and the second one is a thinner turtleneck that is really perfect for layering. I own the second one and use it to layer often! PS – this outfit is a great option if you’re pregnant!

Black Leather Pants for Work and Dinner

I love this black leather pants outfit for work when you know you’re going to do something afterwards. It’s perfect for dinner or drinks! I own this cardigan jacket in tan, and it’s one of my most worn pieces. You can see a video of me wearing it here. You can wear a tank top under it or you could layer it with a thin turtleneck. It also works to wear open as a cardigan like I am here. I own both the tank top and turtleneck I linked and wear them a lot!

Dress code: Business casual. However, you can be stylish in leather and still appropriate in a formal dress code. I would wear this to a formal office, but probably not on my first day of work. If you need to dress up your cardigan jacket, definitely add a layer underneath or a blazer over it.

Black Jeans and Faux Leather Blazer

While I think you can have a lot of fun with work looks in a formal office, I just love a place where you can wear jeans. You can do so much with a casual work environment.

Let’s call this one office edgy. I love the mix of textures in this look. I would layer this thin turtleneck (featured throughout this post) under the cashmere vest. Size up one size in this vest! Then you can have your blazer to wear on, leave at your desk unless you need it for a meeting, or drape on your shoulders!

Dress code: Casual or business casual if you have days you’re allowed to wear jeans – black jeans are pretty much always the most appropriate denim for business casual relaxed days!

Black Suit for Big Days at Work or a Formal Dress Code

Okay, let’s talk suiting! I’ve always had a black or navy suit on standby in my closet because I’ve typically needed one. So, I invested in a suit that I could wear all year – the material is crepe.

My suit is not sold anymore, but I’m featuring a different crepe suit that I’ve seen in store and really like the look of! I also included two blouses that I think would be nice with the suit. Of course, you can wear these blouses with jeans or a skirt too.

I included both loafers and suede sock booties (which are a dreamy pair of shoes in my opinion). They take the same outfit and make very different final looks. But, I really love them both and you can definitely wear them with jeans too.

Black Cardigan and Pleated Skirt

I love this pleated skirt. You can dress it up or down. I’ve always been a huge fan of midi skirts for that reason. Plus, you can wear almost any pair of shoes with a pleated skirt – sneakers, loafers, ballet flats, booties, heeled boots, or pumps.

If your office has a casual dress code, I would wear these combat boots to give your look a fun edge.

Black Skinny Jeans Outfit for Work

This is one of those looks you can turn to when you just don’t know what else to wear on Friday (or any day if you’re in a casual office). Pair black skinny jeans with a black cashmere sweater and your go-to work flats or boots. I still love the look of skinny jeans tucked into boots! If you’re wondering about the sweater, I have this exact cashmere sweater in several colors, and it has really stood the test of time!

Dress codes: casual, business casual if jeans are allowed

Whether you were looking for a black work dress, something to wear to work and dinner, or perhaps some classy all black work outfits, I hope you’ve find an outfit idea or two!
