Hi there! Thanks for coming by today. The weather is starting to shift a little bit towards spring weather where I live! it’s exciting when nicer weather shows up early because it doesn’t always last too long around here before the summer heat sets in. Anyway, spring is the perfect opportunity to bring out your favorite layering essentials. Layering ensures you feel warm and comfortable when the weather is unpredictable!
Everyone has a different go-to piece they love for layering, whether it’s a raincoat, a trench coat, a quilted jacket, or some other type of lightweight layer. I turn to blazers and cardigans a lot this time of the year.
Eight Spring Layered Outfits For All Types of Weather
Okay, here are some spring weather outfit ideas that you can wear right now and into the heart of the spring.
Sweater Blazer And Jeans To Wear Anywhere
This navy sweater blazer caught my eye because it’s structured like a traditional blazer. One of my issues with sweater blazers is that sometimes the lack of structure leaves me feeling like I’m swimming in it or it’s wearing me. To be totally honest, I don’t always mind that, especially if I just want to be super cozy around my house. However, I love this sweater blazer because of how it cinches in at the waist and the material has some structure to it. But, it still has the comfort of a sweater!
This is the outfit I turned to recently when it was warm outside for the time of the year. It was in the high 60s and sunny, which was the perfect day to layer with a blazer instead of a jacket. I’m wearing my trusty ribbed layering top that I wear all the time. It’s such a good top for this time of the year too because it’s fitted enough to go under any spring layer, and it won’t leave you feeling like a marshmallow.
This outfit is a good option for a rainy day too. You can easily wear this underneath a raincoat and with rain boots or other waterproof shoes.
Classic Black Blazer and Tailored Trousers for Work or Weekend
The great thing about a black blazer is it will stay in your closet for years or even decades – it’s the definition of a wardrobe staple if you ask me. I purchased this one a long time ago from H&M, and I wear it all the time. I’m also planning to purchase this linen blazer in black or navy for spring and summer. Anyway, you really can’t go wrong with a classic black blazer. It instantly elevates your outfit, and they’re typically comfortable too!
These brown tailored pants are a go-to pair for me. I love how you can wear them for anything – work or weekend. They give your outfit a smart, tailored look that you don’t always get with denim. Dress this look up with a blouse or keep it simple with a t-shirt like I did.
If it gets warm earlier in the spring where you live, you can also wear this look with espadrilles and that linen blazer I mentioned. I just purchased these espadrilles, and I’m planning to wear them with this look! Use code YOUROCK for 20% off. If you’re a size 6 or smaller like I am, click here for the espadrilles. You can get a 15% off code by signing up for the newsletter – that’s what I did!
Quilted Jacket and layering top with tailored pants
Quilted jackets can dress up an outfit or be worn casually. Most of them work for the fall too. I love the versatility of this layer. I put this outfit together as inspiration for work or church, but it’s also perfect for a weekend event where you don’t want to wear a dress!
These pants are crepe, which means you can wear them all year – even in the summer! Anyway, you can dress this entire outfit down by adding a baseball cap and sneakers. I love this pair for a chic look.
I linked a quilted jacket that looks very similar to mine. I also linked a few pairs of ballet flats I love!
Trench Coat and Slip Skirt for Date Night
A trench coat is probably the most classic piece of spring outerwear I can think of! There are so many gorgeous options for a trench coat, and it will bring a timeless and effortless vibe to your look. This is obviously the best choice for a rainy day, but it definitely doesn’t need to be rainy for you to turn to your trench coat! Look at it as a super chic layer, whether for your commute to work, a night out, or a weekend brunch! I styled it here with a slip skirt for a date night or weekend look. Click here to see this top on me. I just love it! I sized up one size.
Slip Skirt and Linen Blazer
Slip skirts are one of my favorite pieces to wear all year, and they’re just as fun to style when it’s warm! I own and love a cream neutral skirt. It feels like the perfect neutral for warmer weather. I linked a few below that are very similar.
This linen t-shirt is the perfect layering top for spring and then you can wear it by itself throughout summer. I wear it all the time once it’s warm enough. Last summer, I paired it with a tennis skirt to play tennis, but I also wear it a lot with jeans for every day wear.

Statement Suede Jacket
A statement jacket is definitely a wardrobe staple! If you’re looking for an outerwear piece that will make an outfit, I love this suede jacket. All of the pieces I own from Sezane are such high quality. This jacket is gorgeous, and it’s the perfect color to go with a lot in your wardrobe. It would be beautiful with other neutrals, spring pastels, or bolder colors you might turn to in the fall. I love how versatile suede is, and it instantly elevates your look. I would wear this with any color denim, a skirt, or a dress!
Lady Jacket
Lady jackets are super on-trend, comfortable, chic, and they’re really the perfect weight for a spring layer. They look especially cute with denim, but I think they’re a great option for work too. I wear this one from J.Crew often, and this one from Sezane! Click to see them on me.
Green Khaki Jacket To Wear With Jeans Or Dress
I own this jacket in corduroy (click here to see it on me), but I’ve always loved that it comes in so many different materials and color options for different seasons. The khaki green and washed black options have always been two I’ve had my eye on. Click here to see it on me with a dress!
