Hi there! Are you wondering what to wear in the new season? Spring can be a tricky time of the year to get dressed, especially when you’re trying to get out the door for work. I spent 15 years getting dressed to work in offices with all different types of dress codes. Work outfits are just something I love to put together, and I regularly help my friends with their work looks. There’s nothing better than walking into a big meeting, a busy day at work, or a new job in an outfit that makes you feel confident. It has the potential to change your entire mood in my opinion. So, today I’m sharing a roundup of chic outfit ideas that you can wear to work this spring.

Spring Outfit Ideas for Work
I always feel like I can focus and be more efficient with work when I feel good in what I’m wearing. So, here are a few tips on feeling effortlessly chic at work.
How To Look Effortlessly Chic At Work In The Springtime
Fabrics And Layers Are Key
Lightweight fabrics like cotton, linen, and crepe are go-to fabrics this time of the year because they aren’t as warm as wool. If you love cashmere, you can still wear cashmere this time of the year by opting for a short sleeve cashmere sweater or a lightweight cashmere. Quince actually offers lightweight cashmere options and standard weight options!
It’s not a surprise that layers are important when it comes to spring weather. You might need a coat in the morning but not in the afternoon, so trench coats, denim jackets, and linen or cotton jackets are essentials this time of the year.

Make Sure You’re Comfortable (Wear What You Love)
You don’t have to wear the latest trends to look polished. Feeling and looking effortlessly chic is all about being comfortable in what you wear. Make sure your outfit is your vibe! So, if barrel shape pants aren’t for you, then wear the style you love the most! This is where classic pieces will really shine in your wardrobe because they will never go out of style.
What To Wear To Work In Spring To Look Chic
Affordable Cotton Sweater And The Perfect Work Pants
This outfit is just so good – it’s practical, comfortable, made with quality materials like cotton, and it’s work appropriate. But, you can easily wear these outside of work or wear the cotton sweater with jeans (I wear this all the time) on a casual day. Anyway, the button detailing on the sweater is so gorgeous. It really elevates this whole look. These pants are the perfect length, and you can wear them with ballet flats, loafers, or boots. Both pieces come in different colors. This outfit was gifted to me, but I love it so much and wear both pieces frequently.

I’m wearing size small in the sweater and a size 4 in the pants. I’d say everything runs true to size, but if you’re between sizes, go with your size down.
Work Trousers Perfect For Shorter Gals & A Cotton Trench Coat
This feels like the definition of a spring work outfit.
If you’re 5’4 or under like me, the pants I’m wearing in the outfit above and below are perfect for you. They’re not too wide of a leg, they have belt loops, and they’re a super flattering and comfortable waist rise. I’m wearing them in black, and I also love the beige and navy options. You can really get so many different outfits from these pants, which is why they’re such a useful addition to your work wardrobe. Don’t be afraid to wear the same pants more than once in the same week. Click here to shop my outfit.

This cropped trench coat is absolutely perfect – it’s cotton, on-trend, but also classic. It’s never going out of style. If you’re looking more work outfit ideas that you can put together with several key items, click here for a work capsule wardrobe.
Knit Pants And Top With Flats
My knit pants are perfect for spring because you can style them for all different temperatures, which is obviously what spring brings! You can wear them on a mild day with just a button up, wear them on a cooler day with a blazer, and you can wear them on a cold spring day with a sweater. For work, I love them in black or navy, which is what I’m wearing. Click here to see a few ways I styled them.

Soft And Flattering Work Trousers For All Seasons
Crepe is one of the best materials for work pants because you can wear it all year. It doesn’t matter if it’s cold or super hot – crepe just adapts somehow! The crepe pants I’m wearing come in tons of colors and lengths. Plus, if you prefer linen for spring, they also come in linen. These mesh ballet flats are always a go-to shoe for me in the spring and summer because they let my feet breathe.

Don’t Forget Your Trench Coat
Layers are your friend when it comes to transitional dressing. I love trench coats this time of the year, and outerwear is one way you can show your personal style when it comes to work outfits. This denim trench coat is so fun, but it’s also work appropriate. It looks nice with dark jeans, but you can easily wear this over the black work pants or the knit pants I’m wearing above. While a denim trench coat might feel trendy because it’s, well, trending, it’s super versatile and denim outerwear will never go out of style. Think about how long denim jackets in general have been in style – forever! Click here to see three trench coats I love for this spring.

Work Appropriate Cotton Cardigan You Can Wear With Jeans, A Skirt, Or Dress
My cotton cardigan is so soft and so chic! It’s probably the softest sweater I own – even as soft as cashmere. Anyway, it’s perfect to wear with work pants or with jeans. These brown work pants would look so good with them for a work appropriate monochrome look!

So far, I’ve loved wearing this sweater in a monochrome look with brown jeans. I’ve also worn them with regular blue denim. I would definitely wear a shirt under it to keep it more professional, which is how I wear it a lot. I also think this sweater is perfect to style over a dress once it’s a little warmer. Black Maxi Skirt That Goes With Anything
Maxi and midi skirts are good options for work given their length. If you’re worried about this skirt because it’s a maxi skirt – it comes in petite length! I’m wearing a 4 petite. This black maxi skirt is cotton, which, if you can’t tell, is my favorite fabric for spring! I love how this looks with a denim jacket, but you can easily dress it up with a nice sweater, a blouse, or a blazer. This skirt works with a belt even though it doesn’t have belt loops!

Black Maxi Skirt With Black Tailored Vest
Once we get into super warm days, I love how this skirt looks with this linen vest. The tailoring on the vest and the monochrome elevate the outfit. A-line skirts are a great option if you’re a pear body shape like I am.

Blazer Outfit For Friday Or Casual Work Dress Code
Okay, let’s look at a few other outfits that have a more casual feel to them because I paired them with jeans. Spring is one of the best times of the year to wear a blazer because you typically don’t need a heavier coat over it. Blazers are perfect for casual Friday outfits or if you work in a casual dress code. If you wear jeans to work, blazers are an easy way to make your outfit look professional and polished. You can layer it with something as simple as a crewneck tshirt or tank top, or a nicer blouse or sweater. If grey isn’t your vibe, my blazer also comes in camel and black.

Don’t be scared off by the fact that my blazer is merino wool. It’s a super lightweight, super soft, so it’s definitely a good option for spring temperatures on cool days (or mornings).
Cotton Stripe Sweaters For Spring
Stripes are just so popular this time of the year. They’re classic. The stripes on these two sweaters are perfect to pair together. These sweaters are hypoallergenic and made from super high quality cotton. I love them with jeans, and you can also wear this with work pants. Click here to shop this outfit.

Casual Friday Work Outfit
Jeans with any type of lightweight sweater is one of the best outfit formulas for spring. This is one of my favorite looks, and I’m so excited to see the sweater and the espadrilles – they’re on the way to me! (They were kindly gifted to me without any obligation to share). These ballet flats are so cute, and they definitely make the outfit feel a little bit more work appropriate. Sailor jeans are always a great option for spring. Click here to read my blog post all about how to style sailor pants. This sweater is the perfect top to wear with sailor jeans because you can tuck it in and it shows off the cute patch pockets.
