I’ve definitely noticed that since becoming a mom midi dresses are a staple in my closet because they’re just so practical. I can chase my toddler around in a midi dress, but I still feel very chic! When I was in my 20s, I used to also love them for work and special events. So, I do think they’re a good style for any age and lots of body types, especially if you consider versatility. You can wear a midi dress with different shoe styles to totally change up the feel of your outfit. Today, I’m sharing a round up of shoes that go well with midi dress outfits.

First, What Does A Midi Dress Look Like?
A midi dress falls between your knee and ankle. It’s basically the length between a knee length dress and a maxi dress. Some midi dresses fall longer on those of us who are shorter! Either way, most midi dresses are stylish options for anything you’re doing, whether you’re running errands, on a vacation, going to work, or celebrating a special occasion. They go with all different types of shoes – from sneakers to block heel sandals. Okay, here are shoes that look great with midi dresses along with a few styling tips!
Now, What Shoes Go With Midi Dresses?
Slingbacks
Slingbacks are the perfect shoes for every season except winter. If you live somewhere with a mild winter, you can even wear them in the winter though. I’ve also seen some people wear them with tights or sock tights to keep warm, which I think is really cute! Anyway, I love how slingbacks with or without a heel add a classic touch to your outfit. They’re effortless but they instantly elevate your entire look. I find that most slingbacks are also far more comfortable than your typical pair of heels.

Heeled Sandals
Heeled sandals, like a block heel or strappy heels, are a go-to choice for shoes to wear with midi dresses when you want to dress up your look. A pair of heeled sandals work with everything from a flowy midi dress like I’m wearing below to a more structured, professional dress. Your sandals don’t have to a high heel, either. Practical heels are totally in, and they go perfectly with a midi dress.
Shop sandals I love for midi dresses below. Most of these are block heels. I also own and love this pair of high heeled sandals if you’re wearing a dress for a special occasion – like a wedding! I really don’t consider myself to be someone who can manage high heels anymore, and this pair is super comfortable. I wear them to all the weddings I go to without any issues!
Boots
Boots with a midi dress are the perfect combination for fall, winter, and spring. You can wear them together on casual outings or special occasions! I wore this outfit for family photos.
Knee high boots are always a reliable choice to wear with a midi dress. They’ll help keep you warm, and they’re tall enough that there isn’t any space between your dress and shoes. I typically avoid true, low ankle boots because they’ll leave an awkward space between your shoe and dress that tends to give your outfit a frumpy feel. True ankle boots typically look better with a maxi dress!
Ballet Flats
Ballet flats are a timeless shoe that you can wear with most of your outfits, including a midi dress. I wear them all year since they’re super practical for a city, and there are so many options now that are designed to keep your feet cool for summer. The pair I’m wearing below are mesh, for example. They’re breathable, and my foot is still more protected than it would be in sandals. There are many toe shapes, such as square, almond, rounded, and pointy. I find almond and pointy to be the most flattering as they tend to make your legs and entire figure look longer.

Sneakers
Styling a midi dress with sneakers is a classic way to style a casual outfit and be comfortable. There are truly so many sneaker options out there since this type of look is on trend, but I don’t think it’s going anywhere. I typically choose a classic sneaker to wear with a midi dress like I did below as opposed to a chunky sneaker. Take a little trip down memory lane with me here – this was 2022, and I was pregnant! So, I was happy to be able to wear sneakers all over London.
