Hi there! Welcome back, and thank you for stopping by! Let’s talk about where in the world to shop! Everyone takes a different approach to shopping – from where you like to shop, whether you shop in person or online, and whether you find it fun! I certainly enjoy shopping, but I think it can be tricky to know exactly where to shop, especially as shopping preferences and habits change. There have been plenty of times that I’ve been excited to go shopping in person, only to get there and think to myself, why didn’t I just order this online?
So, today, I’m sharing a roundup of online stores to shop that have reliable closet staples and classic pieces for those of us in our 30s. I don’t think style has an age limit, but this post is intended to help you if you aren’t sure where to shop and want to look for classic pieces. My mom and I love to share pieces from our closets. Clothes in your 30s don’t have to be different than clothes in your 20s, 40s, 50s, or 60s. You get the point!
Where To Shop In Your 30s
Some of these places will be places you’ve probably frequented yourself, but I hope at least a few of them are new to you! While I tend to wear classic pieces, I also like to shop at some stores that carry both timeless options and trendier items. Sometimes, it’s just about finding the right pieces! Okay, let’s look at where to shop!
Everlane
If you’re looking for elevated basics, be sure to check out Everlane. Their jeans are high quality, and they’re low maintenance because you can wash and dry them without worrying that they’ll come out a different size. I also like to shop for linen summer dresses here, including the two I’m wearing below (shop the green one here – size down). If you’re in an office, their washable silk tops, especially this button up that comes in tons of different options, are perfect for work. And, so are their blazers! Don’t miss their sales around holidays, where they typically offer 20 to 30 percent off everything.
Rixo
Rixo is one of the first places I check when I need a dress for a special event. Their dresses typically have fun patterns and lots of colors. I purchased a dress by Rixo for my sister-in-law’s wedding last year. A Rixo dress will be an option that you can turn to year after year.
The White Company
The White Company is a British brand that makes basics in neutral colors, but don’t miss their pajamas, slippers, candles, blankets, and other cozy things! I typically shop there for cashmere sweaters. Their sweaters have stood the test of time for me! Here I am in a cashmere sweater from The White Company that I’ve had for years. If you order around the holidays, give yourself extra time for shipping, as I’ve noticed their pieces can take a while to ship. However, they’ve always been worth the wait and their customer service is excellent.
Mango
Mango is the perfect example of a store that carries some trendy pieces, but it always has nice classics. Shop here for a beautiful coat like the exact one I’m wearing below, a neutral summer dress, or a blazer. So far, I’ve never been disappointed in any of these pieces from Mango, and I’ve shopped there since 2013.
Me+Em
Me+Em is another store that has beautiful dress options for special events. But, I also love their everyday options for work or leisure! They’re a British-based brand that recently expanded into New York. I love to pop in one of their shops when I have a chance to get to London, and it never disappoints. Their pieces are beautifully made. My mom and I both shop here!
Reformation
I only recently started shopping at Reformation even though they’ve had a store here in DC for years. If you’ve ever been to one of their stores, then you’ll know their clothes both look and feel gorgeous. Some of their pieces feel a little bit out of my comfort zone, but they have tons of items that are perfect for a timeless wardrobe – things you will wear next year too. I bought these pants from Reformation and have been so pleased with them, and the same goes for my skirt. While I’ve worn them each casually, they’re both nice for work. I had my pants tailored by my local tailor who I love, but Reformation offers free tailoring services. One last thing that’s great about Reformation – they offer extended sizing – I picked up this skirt in petite!
Sezane
Sezane is another place I frequently shop, and I highly recommend pretty much everything they sell. Their pieces are undeniably gorgeous and so, so well made. Whether you’re shopping for a matching set, a dress, a jacket, a sweater, shoes, or the perfect bag, they really do it all.
Varley
Varley, based in England, is a (super) elevated loungewear store. It has become super popular here in the US in the last year. Their store in London is stunning. It’s everything you’d think of when it comes to aesthetics, but their clothes are actually the star here! Each piece is as soft as the one before it. I highly recommend Varley for elevated travel looks, or if you like to wear loungewear out and about. I like to wear mine with chunky boots or sneakers. Here I am on a travel day home from London.
J.Crew
Okay, if you’ve ever read my blog before or seen my Instagram, you won’t be surprised that J.Crew is on this list. I’ve shopped there forever, like so many of you probably have too, and they make great classics. I love J.Crew the most for closet staples that you can wear across a few seasons, including cashmere sweaters, jeans, and outerwear! Both of these sweaters are pieces from J.Crew, and I’m also wearing a black layering top, which you can kind of see!
Madewell
Madewell, like J.Crew, is obviously another popular high street brand that you’ve definitely heard of if you’re from the US. While they make some trendier pieces, I always love to browse there. I’ve found some beautiful tops, blazers, and the occasional summer dress!
& Other Stories
& Other Stories is another store that makes a lot of trendy pieces, but they also carry classics! I love their accessories, like their belts and shoes, too. Don’t miss their blouses, blazers, and dresses. I bought this black tweed jacket by Stories years ago, and it is still one of my favorite fall, winter, and spring pieces to this day.
Rails
If you shop at department stores like Nordstrom or Bloomingdales, you might’ve noticed pieces by Rails. They recently opened a store in Georgetown here in DC, so I was able to pop in. Their clothes are very soft and feel high quality! Their summer skirts were soft and flowy, and I’m looking forward to checking out their fall and winter collection.
Tory Burch
Tory Burch is a classic for us millennials, I think! I wore their ballet flats throughout my entire 20s, and I still love their shoes today. I love their boots, loafers, and bags the most! My bag (this year’s version here) and boots are both from Tory Burch!
Vince
Vince is another store that makes beautiful basics. Because of their price points, I tend to shop their pieces when they’re on sale. There are always a lot of pieces from Vince included in the Nordstrom Sale, including this navy blue layering top I picked up this year that is currently on sale! See how I styled it here!
Abercrombie & Fitch
It’s kind of funny to me that I used to shop at Abercrombie in high school and still like a lot of their pieces today! I love their jeans and trousers. They make great pants! They come in an impressive size range, including short and curvy, so you can absolutely find the perfect fit. Both of these pants are from Abercrombie, and I have several others that you can see on my Instagram here and here, for example!
I hope today’s post helped you find some options for clothes in your 30s – or whatever age you might be!
